Mr. Wood! I would like to thank you for your fantastic online resource on Olympus microscopes. So would you say that this is as good as it gets? How much does the design of the objective play? I assume that my objectives are made for looking at slides with coverglass and not 3d shapes. I would reall...

Empty magnification? Lenses that fit my setup?
Hi there! I just recently got hold of a Olympus bh-2 with some simple Olympus lenses. Yesterday I finally got the photo eyepiece in the mail and started to experiment a bit. I set it up so that its sharp in the oculars and the camera at the same plane. It seems very sharp when I view in the oculars ...

I had one Nikon 50mm f/2 http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/50mm-f2.htm so I tried it with a small FSmirror i found inside a transfer unit. The results are promising! The issue I have is really a mechanical one. I need to line up the camera-lens-mirror so I get the focal plane correctly aligned with t...

Mirror at 45 degrees
I was thinking about another way to get close to the film. Could I put a small mirror at 45 degrees and shoot that? In that case what kind of mirror and is there special ones that take out any distortion created by the 45 degree angle? Or would a prism be better?
Best regards

Guido Perhaps I misunderstand what you mean but it sounds to me like you are describing what I already do. Using the shutter on film would quickly wear it out, in just one hour of super 8 there is 90000 frames. Harold Gough That fotovix is a very interesting piece of equipment! If the sensor is upgr...

Re:Super8
Thanks a lot for your input, all of you! lothman: Actually I dont sync per se. I have put a microswith that gets triggered everytime there is a new frame. This microswitch is hacked in to a usb mouse wich triggers a computer that takes a framegrab from the HDMI output from the camera via a blackmagi...

Re:Super8 Telecine optics.
Of course that is possible, there is however a few downsides to that way of doing it. For one the room needs to be dark and it takes a lot of space. And if one wants to make the sharpest possible transfer, wich i do. There really is no alternative to taking a picture of the actual emulsion. Best reg...

I have been building a simple gadget to archive my family films. It is working rather well mechanically and the software part is also finished t...
