Hi Lou. I went from a Canon 550D to a Lumix G7, and what a change it was. The amount of dials, function buttons and general customization have no comparison. Furthermore the touch screen give you access to most of the camera capabilities, I assume in a way similar to Olympus cameras. Although the us...

I understand that everyone has its own preferences for camera brand, sensor size, etc. But just for the record, since last year Panasonic cameras have in body stabilization aka IBIS. Some of their stabilized lenses (particularly those with a long focal length) work in tandem with the camera IBIS in ...

Nice picture. Most samples of cacoxenite that I have seen are generally aggregates, thus finding an isolated sphere is uncommon.

I do not have a 70D, but looking into the specs of the camera (DP Review) I can see that there is a resolution mode of 5472X3072 pixels. Furthermore, this is an aspect ratio equivalent to the 16:9 format, thus probably your friend has set the camera at different aspect ratios depending on how the ca...

I am not really good at this, thus somebody else would have to give you better input. Anyway, if you are getting greater sharpness using flash than continuous illumination, my guess is that your system is suffering from some vibration. Now finding and getting rid of it could be quite a task. Good lu...

Did I miss something? Canon M series are APS-C sensor cameras with a 1.6x crop factor, not 4/3rds. Are you considering using this macro on a MFT camera via an adapter?

Alternatively you may try ImageJ, an open and free image processing software. When you have opened the image that you want to reduce, go into the "Image" menu tab, then into "Scale..." and select the size in pixels of the new picture.

Oooops! , you are right with your spelling. I found myself substituting the English "y" for the Spanish "i" rather frequently, have to pay more attention.

ChrisR is right, the matrix mineral is Barite. This kind of sample is typical for the Mibladen region in Morocco.

Nice pictures by the way.

Hi Adalbert. As of lately I have been practicing on how to make a "mosaic" view of rock thin sections, this with the purpose of getting a better view of the rock structure. Currently these mosaics cover an area of roughly 12x6 mm and are composed of some 30 to 35 frames, with a 20 - 25% overlap. I u...
