Re: NEC uP7720 DSP - and a long saga
I'll be very interested to hear more about your custom control-point finder. At this point I could do a fricken TED talk on it. Is it OK if I post something longer over in the "techniques" forum? The major advancement is that I was able to find a way to deal with these repeating pattern areas. The ...

NEC uP7720 DSP - and a long saga
So this is arguably a work in progress owing to some blotchy-ness, enblend bugs, and some other things I'll probabaly post over in the "techniques" forum. Shot as 240 sets of 10 images, stacked in Zerene, control points and Hugin project cleanup by my very own contraption. Its the largest thing I've...

That's amazing! I've already sent it over to our bug people. They love this stuff. Very interesting and well done.

Zerene batching and varying contrast between stacks
Hi, I shot a series of 240 tiles, 10 images each, about 1/3rd micron steps with a NA=0.75 objective. Each stack may start at a slightly different Z depth, but always covers depth of the features, which span 6 steps usually. Its just that the top most later might start at image 3 or image 1. Zerene d...

Re: Batch processing multiple stacks located in the same folder using Zerene Stacker
If the objective is to keep from having two copies, use hard links under Windows ( or either hard or soft links under Linux and BSD / MacOS ) then you can keep your source materials in a folder, but create a folder tree for batch processing. The files are not duplicated, only the file system metadat...

I never knew they did that, really nice! I wonder if it serves any purpose, like UV protection or re-radiating in wavelengths the algae like.

They are gorgeous and nicely thought out shots. The vibrant opsins in the eye spots are really gorgeous. Ontogeny happens in secret in mammals, fortunately you have a very obliging subject.

Re: Agatized dinosaur bone from 0.7x to 60x
That is really amazing, both in terms of the subject and your images, especially the escalating levels of magnifications. Early on when I resumed this hobby, I did some work with petrified wood, and similarly it preserves an amazing amount of structure. You've inspired me to look at those again.

Re: 10x Objective Test: Mitutoyo M Plan Vs 3 Nikon Objectives
That's very useful info as I am looking for a 10x. Quick question: are 2 micron steps small enough? On my 20x ones I am using 1/3rd micron steps and that is just about good enough to focus on a particular layer, though the objectives I have at NA=0.75 and 0.40 respectively, so perhaps that makes the...

Re: Why this apparent colour change?
Relative to the last image: The bright spot in the middle of the image suggests stray light, that will cause some degree of flare over the entire image. You can identify where the stray light its coming from by removing the camera, and from a distance just looking through the tube and shifting your ...
