Is the picture of the wasp up on it's hind legs staged or was that captured in the field? The butterfly, Swallowtail?, is a nice shot...

Thank you Chris. I found illumination the most challenging part of running the stack and it was the main reason I had to redo it so many times. I'm starting to get a handle on good illumination strategies. Vivtar, I have is a Nikon mount. I got it at the local camera store off the repurpose table. A...

Thanks Michael, Yes the bristles were a real pain, particularly with the contrast halo build up around the edges. I tried to correct this in Zerene with DMap but there was too much detail loss. I ended up doing tedious layer blends in PS. The 10X is on my list, just need to find a good copy at a rea...

Hi Mike, First of all Thank you for the comments. Hi A-PeeR I know how you feel. I too started a while back, but I am trying to STILL get my first good shot, worthy of some positive feedback. It all seems so easy; we know what we want to capture, but execution is pretty darn tough. Keep at it you'll...

Pogonomyrmex Harvester Ant Stack

I started down this high magnification stacking road 1.5 years ago and I've finally accumulated enough bits and pieces to put together a decent rig which is allowing me to go beyond the 5:1 of my MP-E 65. Had I realized it was going to take so much effort I'm not sure I would have embarked on the jo...

Eastern Lubber and Young Green Grasshopper

Took these photos this past weekend at the Texas A&M Extension Services' gardens. I had never seen a Lubber before. I got my fill as the critters were all over the place. As I shot macro around the gardens, the crunching of plant matter was a constant reminder of their presence. All shots with Sigma...

It's a finite objective get the bellows ready... Infinite objectives have the Infinity ∞ symbol on them. Thank you so much! You know if this lens gives good results? I have not used the 10x BD but have read it gives good results. I have the 20x and 40x BD ELWD. The images are sharp but there ...

Shots look a little hot on my end. You could have probably kicked down the ISO to 100.
