Hi John,
Thank you very much. That's great.
I think it is fine for me to sell the lens, and that's great that you are in the UK. I will email you through the website here. Thanks!
Thanks!
Jennifer

Re: Olympus DSLR internal focus stacking as a rail for microscope objective
The stackshot doesn't go down to small enough steps for the 50x lens, so the one that I can see that is potentially good is the Ultra Rail MINI V2 Kit (incl. IR-Controller) although it seems slightly too good to be true. I wonder how they get such small steps reliably from a screw like that? Also it...

Re: Olympus DSLR internal focus stacking as a rail for microscope objective
I just worked out that I don't think the Olympus DSLR internal focus bracketing would currently work as a rail for a microscope objective, because they don't currently have a 200mm lens that works with the system. The range of cameras and lenses is on the page below and even the zoom lenses don't in...

Re: Barely used Mitutoyo objectives for sale
Hi, Thanks for asking about the 20x. I just looked online and it says the new price is £1584. Do you think that's right? I didn't think it was that much but I don't have a record of the price I paid for it. https://www.edmundoptics.co.uk/p/20x-mitutoyo-plan-apo-infinity-corrected-long-wd-objective/6...

Re: Olympus DSLR internal focus stacking as a rail for microscope objective
This says it goes down to 0.01 of a micron and can be used to 100x. The technology has really moved on since I last looked. Crikey! https://www.mjkzz.de/collections/focus-stacking-rails/products/ultra-mini-rail-v2-kit-incl-ir-controller?variant=40501425701047 It says that this is a "used" rail, whic...

Re: Olympus DSLR internal focus stacking as a rail for microscope objective
My 50x lens says: Depth of Field (μm):0.90 so I suppose I need to have steps of less than 1/3 of a micron to use that properly. That's very small. Oh dear.

Re: Olympus DSLR internal focus stacking as a rail for microscope objective
Do you know if any of them are good enought to work with a 50x objective? I mean from someone actually trying it and finding that it works?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Barely used Mitutoyo objectives for sale
May I ask if you are in the UK? We probably need to think about postage costs and insurance too.
Thanks!

Re: Barely used Mitutoyo objectives for sale
Hi, Thanks for asking. The 5x objective is about £566 new just now so I could sell it for £300 of if that would be of interest. Ideally I'd like to keep the 50x if I can, and it seems as though I could probably buy a new rail for less than £300 so just selling the 5x would probably work out okay for...

Thank you very much! Those options did not exist when I was looking before. They look great and just what I am looking for.

Re: Barely used Mitutoyo objectives for sale
Thanks, that's good to know.
My old rail was made from a microscope focus block, but it constantly slipped, so I could never get a single good stacked photo from it.

Barely used Mitutoyo objectives for sale--(sale ended)
Hi, I have a set of barely used Mitutoyo objectives that I am considering selling, so I could use the money to buy a new commercial focus stacking rail. I wondered if anyone might be in the market for things like that, and would be willing to tell me what they would pay for them (so I know whether i...

Olympus DSLR internal focus stacking as a rail for microscope objective
Hi, I wondered if I could ask whether anyone had considered using an Olympus DSRL and 200mm lens as a focus stacking rail for a Mitutoyo microscope objective? I have seen some amazing focus stacked images by Des Callaghan on twitter of full sized moss plants and they are really amazing. I wondered i...

Re: Focus stacking rail getting stuck
I took the rail apart to fix it, but it is now very completely broken, in a no-going-back kind of way. Oh well.

Re: Focus stacking rail getting stuck
Hi, We just took apart the fine and coarse focus knobs and the gears seemed to be in mint condition inside and running very nicely. We put it back together and glued the blue external gears that I had added to the fine focus knob in case something was wrong there. It doesn't feel right as the source...
