Re: 8x HR NA 0.32 + α7R IV 4 Image Pixel Shift Mode

effect of telecentricity. Can that show up as more DOF in this case? No, something else must be going on. DOF is determined by the angular width of the entrance cone, for each point on the subject. That angle is what's measured by NA, so any two lenses that are working at the same NA will have the ...

The Mag8x test is finally completed and the results are online: Hello Robert, Excellent test and documentation =D> , the only thing I`m missing is the "Thank you Robert" PayPal button. Have you ever combined pixelshift and Zerene and if so could you automate getting all the pixelshift images done? ...

Re: Quick test: Mitutoyo QV 1x vs M Plan Apo 2x

Results look very similar, just about identical. Thanks for sharing that. At one point I did own both the QV1x and the M Plan 2x, sold both after trying them. Never thought about sharing the poor results. This makes me even more confident I did the right thing. Good luck selling the QV 1X. I got luc...

Re: Mitutoyo 2,5X QV Microscope Objective for macro

Thanks for the advice. I use both the FF canon 5d mark IV and the APSC canon 70d. The main question is to buy the Mitu 2.5 QV, or rather it is worth to add an extra $ 250 for the Mitu 5x Apo Plan? The Mitu 2.5 QV seems theoretically more flexible, giving you the option of 2.5-6x magnification for l...

Until I picked up this up at a local antique/close-out/dead-stock dealer, I had never seen one. This is a fixed aper...

Re: 8x HR NA 0.32 + α7R IV 4 Image Pixel Shift Mode

An impressive lens, and an impressive review -- nice work! One tiny niggle: the objective by itself is telecentric only on the object side. To get double telecentric, the objective must be precisely paired with a matching tube lens. In that configuration, the combo will also have fixed magnificatio...

Re: Raynox DCR-150 in Finite Setup

Hey Robert! Thank you so much for your reply. I am looking into the Schneider 120mm now - I think I viewed this post ages ago! Daft question probably - are the test images from a circuit board? I have always wanted to know so I can get something similar. Silicon wafer! I bought that one in the wafe...

Re: Raynox DCR-150 in Finite Setup

Hello! I have been doing some research and I have found that using a reversed Raynox DCR-150 in your finite setup can improve IQ overall. What does anyone think about this? I am shooting 3.7x-10x at the moment and want to do some lower magnifications too. I use 160mm finite objectives most of the t...

Re: Three (relatively) inexpensive 50x Objectives: generic "LMPlanFl" vs Generic BD Plan vs Mitutoyo M50

50x comparison, nice! The BD Plan is not so bad! What do those things cost anyway? I should try to dig up some crops of a 50x Mitutoyo M Plan I bought for $100 with a mint condition barrel but a huge chip in the front element. 100% fine IQ, the chip had zero effect on IQ. Fact was it was better than...

Re: 8x HR NA 0.32 + α7R IV 4 Image Pixel Shift Mode

Robert, I spent a lot of time looking at that scope last year, and almost bought it. But many users report bad quality control, and many people had to return theirs for adjustment. Thanks for the report Lou! I emailed them a few times a couple of years ago but was not too impressed with their respo...

Re: 8x HR NA 0.32 + α7R IV 4 Image Pixel Shift Mode

Robert, the results with the Mamiya 250mm lens do depend on the objective used. With some objectives it shows a slight, mostly correctable red fringe. An even better choice would be the famous Zeiss/Hasselblad 250mm Superachromat. This can't add a red fringe, because it is a lens designed for space...

Re: 8x HR NA 0.32 + α7R IV 4 Image Pixel Shift Mode

......I thought it was a symmetrical lens so I didn't bother! The tube lens used for the sample is a Rodenstock APO-Gerogon and it according to Rodenstock it is symmetrical. They were designed to be used in reduction or mag without having to remove the lens to reverse it. Range was given from 1:3 t...
