Re: Mejiro Genossen Fl0530 4.0/110mm 0.5x-3x macro lens On eBay

Dolmadis, watch out for those. The front and back rings have clearly been opened, and very crudely. Surely a high-quality lens like this cannot be opened and put back together by such rough-handed clods without ruining it. Look at the bare metal scratches around that ring...they look very deep. The...

Re: Mejiro Genossen Fl0530 4.0/110mm 0.5x-3x macro lens On eBay

Forgot to mention this but Mejiro was a Japanese lens/lighting manufacturer located in Tokyo with products targeting industrial use. They were purchased by Taiwanese corporation a couple of years ago.

Re: Mejiro Genossen Fl0530 4.0/110mm 0.5x-3x macro lens On eBay

This is the slower version of the float lens, they make a f/2.5 faster 1-3x but this version has a wider mag range, Ray mentions this. FWIW, I've contacted Mejiro maybe 5 times in the last 3 years, zero interest even answering one question. Useless customer service staff. I would like to know what h...

Re: Fedex and the Lost Inspec.x L Float Lens Saga

They also paid -12.8 % effective US federal tax (that's minus 12.8 %) over the last 3 years as we learned today, so you're paying them twice over  https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/02/business/economy/zero-corporate-tax.html Glad to hear that they are re-investing this into customer service. Re: Fedex and the Lost Inspec.x L Float Lens Saga

I had a custom adapter machined for my microscope a month or so back. It was shipped slow via fedex and was almost a week late when it was marked as delivered--but when I went out there was no package. I checked my security camera and saw the fedex guy had driven down my street, turned around and d...

Re: Fedex and the Lost Inspec.x L Float Lens Saga

I tried to send something back by fedex recently - gave up after two weeks and decided live is too short for dealing with them. might be different if you are a business customer I expect. When I tried to return that mag.8x to Germany, Fedex wanted almost $400, so I ended up using DHL for $190. :sho...

Re: Fedex and the Lost Inspec.x L Float Lens Saga

That looks like an interesting lens. So you can order things direct from them? There doesn't seem to be any clear price list on their website. Hi Lou, You can buy directly at the Qioptiq store: https://www.qioptiq-shop.com/en/Precision-Optics/ The Qioptiq distributor is usually cheaper, at least wi...

Fedex and the Lost Inspec.x L Float Lens Saga

An inspec.x L Float lens was drop shipped via Standard overnight Fedex last Friday from the Excelitas distributor. Easy right? No, but hopefully my poor experience with Fedex might help others here on the forum so here are the facts. _PM-Linos-Inspec.x-Float-Lens.jpg The shipment was scheduled for d...

Re: Raynox 150 or Marumi +5

Just realized some guy named Robert :D  tested the Sigma 70 Art and the Tamron SP 90 together at 1x with about 15 other lenses on an A7R4. In the test results the Sigma 70 had almost no drop off center to corner. The Tamron, at least the SP model, had softer corners, center was nice. https://...

Re: Raynox 150 or Marumi +5

To be honest, camera shops push what they have in stock. A Tamron 90 is a good deal used, but new, they are newer designs with much better image quality than the Tamron. Example? New at BH Photo the Sigma Art 70 is about $100 cheaper than the Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 VC USD Lens. The Art le...

Re: 8x HR NA 0.32 + α7R IV 4 Image Pixel Shift Mode

The perfomance of Mitutoyo 10x HR 0.42 is what surprised me in this tests. I expected it to perform a lot better, maybe on par with 8x 0.32 in terms of resolution, considering that Qioptics has more expensive and complicated design, but Mitutoyo has larger NA. But in practice it looks here like not...

For sure that will beat the double-stick tape, though the idea is the same.

These are made of soft gum rubber so they grip like sticky tape and I've loosen some super tight cells with this. I would avoid the harder yellow and gray plastic versions.
