Re: SM2 Lens Tube Studio System Update
that page was a big influence and help when I built my SM2 setup, so a big thank you from my side for all your pioneer work and the excellent documentation! I opted to used the thorlab 66mm rails for support instead of arca swiss, which is more expensive overkill for most things, but I wanted to get...

Re: New olympus 90mm 2x macro
I've done a stitched image at 1.2x for a 25meter wide print recently - pixelshift sure helped a lot with that!

Re: New olympus 90mm 2x macro
Pixel-shifted images are simply less information-dense than non-shifted images. One could perhaps try to verify this last statement by compressing pixel-shifted and non-shifted PNG images with a lossless algorithm, and check whether pixel-shifted images compress to a higher extent than non-shifted ...

Re: Good Buy on Zeiss Photolithography Lens
So the light source has to be as nearly monochromatic as possible. I might be missing something but it seems to me that this only makes sense if using a camera with monochrome sensor. otherwise only the blue pixels would get exposed, which means on a bayer sensor we'd only get 1/4 of the sensor res...

yeah, that's certainly more convenientrjlittlefield wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 7:09 pmOr stick a 1.4X teleconverter behind it, and get infinity to 2.8X at the turn of a focus ring.
will result in a performance hit from infinity to 2x and longer focal length though.

Re: who has the new Laowa 90mm/2,8 2:1 Macro?
Judging from Roberts tests at least the 100mm 2x should be very good at 1x and 2x - so I don't think it should be too bad at 0.5x and maybe quite good at 3x as well; without having tested it or read any reviews, I'm willing to bet that it's excellent at 0.5x and very likely at infinity (I'm sure th...

Re: who has the new Laowa 90mm/2,8 2:1 Macro?
and if I could cover everything from infinity up to 3x...well then that would be nice. well, depends on your expectations - if you expect one lens to perform as good as the best lenses at each magnifications, then no dice. if you can life with "good enough" quality then a Laowa 2x with a diopters o...

Re: 2x Mitutoyo objective. Any good?
It should be better than just about any reversed enlarger lens, right? The only thing I'm worried about is working distance and subsequently how to attach filters etc... maybe it's not worth the hassle? jup, it's an excellent lens. check Robert OToole's website, he posted tons of in depth info: htt...

Re: first test of my Sigma 105mm F2.8 DG DN Macro Art
That would at least suggest that you could still alter image parameters before exporting them so maybe the RAW files are there but it can only export them to JPEG (for now)? yeah, I was thinking along the same lines - it seems unimagable to me that the camera processor can do some algorithm that co...

isn't it jpeg only on the R5 for the time being or did I miss something?rjlittlefield wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 11:21 amCanon just released it as a firmware upgrade for the R5 ("IBIS High Resolution"). Initial reports are that it works well if motion is completely absent.

Re: first test of my Sigma 105mm F2.8 DG DN Macro Art
@chris_ma I get that but then you get pixel shift artefacts instead - like those "scanlines". No, with Panasonic I don't - I've done thousands of shots and never had any problems with pixelshift artefacts. I thought about getting a GFX100 or Alpha7R, but there I saw artefacts in most pictures. I al...

Re: first test of my Sigma 105mm F2.8 DG DN Macro Art
Pixel shift is - and I hope nobody takes offence at that - primarily a crutch to eke out a bit more information that is very rarely really useful for any practical application. I don't take offence but I strongly disagree... one of the strange things on the internet (well in life in general) is tha...
