Hi Rik,

Yes, that's the target. That's exactly the type of info I was looking for. Thanks!

I've acquired an Edmund's USAF Hi_Res resolution target.

Here is the result with a D600, Rodagon D ARD1 at 1:1, f4, No Sharpening:

I"m not experienced reading these charts. What do you think?

There must be quite a few versions of a Magnagon. I bought one from Israel as well. It's marked Linos. (They owned Rodenstock for awhile.) It doesn't have threads on the back, alas. There are some on the front, but I'm not sure what thread. It's something around 32mm. It has a circular disk aperture...

Ray, they were not. Both are fixed aperture lenses. I believe the Rodagon D is at f4 and the Magnagon at f5.6.

I'm running a test right now with Technical Pan film.

(snip) Peter, one test I did was to use Photoshop to layer together and then Edit > Auto-Align Layers. Flash-to-compare then showed that Lens R seems just a bit sharper than Lens M, but both of them are doing a fine job of capturing film grain from the original photo. --Rik Thank you, Rik. That's w...

Hm. I use Dropbox for sending tiffs to clients on a regular basis. I wonder what's up. The layered tiff would have to be opened in Photoshop. Here's an overall image of the 4x5 negative: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/2198_Common_Grounds_Web_1.jpg Here are some jpg crops. The are from...

Sorry, Ray. I'm not sure what happened. I re-did the links, and they should be working now.

So here are some comparisons. First, we have a scan from the dslr scanner. The layers are from different lenses. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3595413/Lens_Comparison_1x_Bergger_200.tif This is a full-sized 8-bit Gamma 2.2 layered file. The sample area was the center of a 4x5" of Bergger 200 f...

Lens comparison near 1:1

Here's a link to a layered tiff file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/97fvg7r6ixn1bk7/lens_comparison_3209_v_3216.tif The subject is a 35mm Technical Pan negative. Each layer was taken with a different lens. The magnifications are a bit different, unfortunately, as the lenses were used with the same exten...

I picked up a PN-1 extension tube, a precursor to the PN-11, along with an M2 extension ring. I'm very happy with that pair. Everything is well-machined, and together with a t-mount/f-mount adapter and a step down ring, my Rodagon D, with it's 39mm Leica thread, mounts easily. The M2 has a nice inte...
