Re: New olympus 90mm 2x macro
A small comparison with 60 mm macro Olympus would be very clarifying. Thanks Carlos Yes...the 60 is quite good at f/3.5 so it might have a resolution advantage. It took some time, but I got around to it: https://savazzi.net/photography/olympus-macro-lenses.html I included the Olympus 30 mm macro as...

Re: Stackshot Vs. WeMacro Vs. QOOL
My current approach is somewhat different. I initially started with the MJKZZ system because their refurbished THK KR-20 rails (augmented with proprietary hardware to make them immediately usable "out of the box") seem more "serious" and reliable than the rails that come with WeMacro and Stackshot s...

Re: Blackening edge lens elements
It depends on how black you want the girdle of optical elements to be, but a potential problem with paint is that the thickness of the dried paint can make it impossible to put the optical element back into a tight-fitting mount (and if you force the lens back into its mount, off comes the paint). A...

I would like to purchase the binoculars for AX, however, it is out of my price range and shipping would be very expensive.

Re: Goniometer Recommendation
The question in this thread is about a two-axis goniometer. Alan, the item you referenced doesn't appear to include any goniometer at all. I don't think it is on topic for this thread. --Chris S. That is my impression too, the link seems to show an XY shift stage (a.k.a. translation stage, plus a r...

Re: Best Lens/Accessory Option to Achieve 1.5-2:1 Magnification with Micro Four Thirds?
In the interesting discussion that's been going on, I'm wondering how to fit a 1.4x doubler on the Olympus 60mm macro because the M4/3 teleconverters have the rear lens housed in a long tube that prevents these teleconverters from being placed on lenses that aren't They are specifically made for th...

Re: Best Lens/Accessory Option to Achieve 1.5-2:1 Magnification with Micro Four Thirds?
[...] Which brings me to the next question - does the AF in-camera-stacking on micro 4/3 cameras only work with Olympus and Panasonic lenses or is it possible with older adapted lenses like the Sigma 150mm in EF or 4/3 mount? That would be an interesting way to get more working distance than any 60...

Re: Cow Patty Critters
Hi, all. An entomologist I know released a book "Cow Patty Critters - An introduction to the ecology, biology and identification of insects in cattle dung on Canadian pastures" this morning. Whew, that was a mouthful. I only perused it lightly and it looks very informative. I suspect it also applie...

fs: Zeiss Tessovar photomacroscope
There are at least two different things known as Zeiss Tessovar. One is a system for photomacrography. This is what I am offering. The other Tessovar is an adapter for photomicrography equipped with an eyepiece port for focusing. There might be also other things that Zeiss called Tessovar. P4093803s...

Has anyone actually tried to use the Olympus LMPlanFL 50x BD 0.50 or UMPlanFL 50x BD 0.80 on an Olympus BD illuminator? Or any other Olympus objectives of the same two series on an Olympus BD illuminator? How did it work on a three-dimensional subject? I have the LMPlanFL 50x BD 0.50 (the one with 1...

Re: 2x Mitutoyo objective. Any good?
[...]While I've not had one in hand, the Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra Macro is said to be very good in the 2.5x-3.5x range. (This is not a bellows-mounted lens, but goes directly on the camera.)[...] I have a couple of tests of the Laowa 25 mm available at https://savazzi.net/photography/laowa-25-...

A small batch of finite objectives. P4043751s.JPG Lomo Apo water immersion 70x 1,23 with correction collar for cover thickness 10-20 (0.10-0.20 mm I guess).
