Re: Personal parasite.

Thanks! I feel fine now, the neck and headache lasted most of the second day but that was it I hope. It will be interesting to see the blood test results, it's an antibody test and they aren't so effective early on. I was thinking about trying to spot some of the bacteria involved (the spirochete Bo...

Re: Personal parasite.

It was about three days after my walk that I noticed this tick. It’s now a week later and I had the violent shivers last night and neck and head pain this morning. The doc suspects Lyme disease so a blood test in the morning and 3 weeks antibiotics!!

Re: Cosmic Pineapple

It looks like the bottom of the cosmic pineapple is getting a little too close to a black hole!
Nicely done!

Re: Personal parasite.

I've probably seen them close up before, but don't remember the mouth parts looking like that. Of course the pictures I saw probably weren't from the UK, so probably a different species of tick...... Thanks Deanimator. I think that they are all pretty similar. The main mouth parts are really just t...

Re: Personal parasite.

Thanks mark and Lou,

they are very common around here and those "Tick Twisters" do a great job of getting them off easily without leaving anything behind.

Personal parasite.

I spotted this tiny Tick feasting on my arm after a walk in the forest so I got out my trusty "O'Tom Tick Twister", pulled it out and took it's picture with a Canon M50 MkII through a Raynox 5320pro tube lens and Olympus 20xLMPlanFl.

Re: Magma flow

I found a dovetail to M42 adapter on Ebay, from Spain, I used a couple of short Thor Labs tubes and a SM2 to Canon EOS adapter. I did a quick test of direct projection vs PE 2.5x on my APS-C I didn’t see a big quality difference, a little more CA with the photo-eyepiece. As I have FF canon I tend to...

....... I think this looks like an underground river of magma.
I can see that - very nice! What sensor size are you using? Is the 0.32x to get the full image on an APS-C sized sensor.

Re: When is a clam not a clam?

Maybe it’s the structure, even when broken the thin edges only showed the slightest hint of colour. The shells I had were closed and empty, I have no idea how old they are. I have photographed Ooids (calcite sand grain) under x polars and they where bright white against a black background - so aniso...

Re: When is a clam not a clam?

Interestingly the marine ostracod shells didn’t really show any colours under cross polarisation.

I agree, the last one looks just like an illustration and the moth head has a great tonal range.
