BX61 Focus repair

A pretty specific question, but has anyone experience with the motorized focus on a BX61? Probably schematics / service manual? Specifically, I want to know about the purpose of the fork photoelectric barrier that reads out a disc every 90° (the disc is located directly on the stepper motor shaft in...

Hi and thanks for your answers! As I do not have a flash adaption yet (biiiig thing on the wish list), I am forced to use the continuous light of the scope. Here it was a BX50 with a U-LH100 lamp house, so 100W halogen. For pond peeping pictures, I remove all filters (ND, LBD...) from the light path...

Just forget about the piezo actuators (copper ports), no one needs that precision. And those coaxial micrometers are manual only.
If you really want to use the piezos (and if only to impress someone at the bar), that ain't too complicated either.

I also have three servo rails lying around here, but no manual. I have found out quite a bit about the protocol (there's an AT Mega controller built in), but i am still far from being able to use those.

Servo's can go faaaast!

Looks like you won't get along without programming... Servos are different beasts compared to steppers. Good thing is, that documentation and software is available, no need to reverse engineer. Ain't a case for WeMacro or Stackshot, but here's a long read to get you started:

Nice gear, worth the hassle imho.
