Plasterer Bee - Colletes simulans nevadensis

taken in the backyard on the rose bush, he was going after the dead leaves rather than the flowers for some reason. ive never seen one of these before its usually the yellow and white or all black.

mountain insects

thanks erland, i like the way the first one came out too. and yes western u.s in southern california. i found a website that has one almost identical and it says female.

thanks rj this is what leads me to believe its female http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/350_IMG_6401_1.jpg there was a ton of the blue ones and only a few tan colored ones like above. then oddly when i was leaving, along the mountain side was tons of females all away from the stream and ...

hey thanks for the welcome,

rj im not to sure what kind of frog it is either, not really my area as well. theres usually more brown/tan colored ones this guy stood out being almost all white.
