Mitutoyo 20X NA 0.42 -- pushed down to 10x
... It would be interesting to test all objectives with a very short tube lens, short enough to show at least a trace of vignetting. A 90mm or 100mm or 105mm lens, for example. Thanks for the idea Lou.... I can try each objective with one good shorter tube like a Sigma 150mm or the Makro-symmar 120...

Screen Cézanne Scanner -- not a bargain :-)
As it was the best in the testing (sharpness, overall image quaility...): If you have "some" money and look for a SCREEN Cezanne Elite Scanner, optical. res. = 5300 ppi -- and if you are interested in its lens inside... here is one sitting - and: .... waiting ;-) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Screen-Ce...

Lenses in Film- and legacy Highend-Scanners
Sorry Christian, the LS-30 deal fell through. ...However .. an offer was accepted on another LS-30, so now I just need to wait. I will do a quick report on the physical aspects of the lens, but not sure I will be able to test it effectively if its FL is too short. Scitex S-2 and Scitex S-3 series o...

Christian, I think the software and lens advances went hand in hand. There was no need for sophisticated lenses as long as the sensor was primitive. Hi Lou, yes this sounds logical. As far as we found out in this group, in all the industrial high-end scanners as the Israel-made Creo (finally Kodak)...

SOLD: Rodenstock Magnagon 75mm f5.6 / industrial vers. new
SOLD: Rodenstock Magnagon 75mm f/5.6 - NEW - in good hands now. I have taken this in some hours work out of a 110 Kilogram FUJI Fujifilm C 550 Lanovia highend Scanner (designed for 5000 ppi resolution; the description of the optics in the Scanner manual defines that) - so no scratches on the barrel...

I just picked up an LS-30 on eBay Hi Ray, can you already report on the power your Coolscan III lens, compared to others... ? According to the Nikon specs its a 6 lenses in 4 groups lens. Despite the fact that is has (officially) no ED lens included (?) - I believe the most straitening part on the ...

hidden gem...
For what it's worth, the inexpensive, lightweight Minolta 35mm f/2.8 that I just tried had a working distance of 32mm. I'll go through my lens drawer, and just possibly find a hidden gem. Thats the WA 35mm I assume, not the 30mm enlarger lens? The enlarger lens had serious CA issues. @dmilla...

Just a heads up. The Makro-Symmar 120/5.6 are $1300 new at Schneider Optics USA but they are $299 from one of my favorite seller location in S. Korea. They show 2 units left in stock. This community is very fast : ;-) http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/846_sold_now_1.jpg @ Robert: You me...

I was going to reply that I had given up on stacking combos ... Which telephoto? ... The Sigma 150 macro would give me a little over 5x. Hi Robert, I believe you do not plan to use "relay"-lenses below 135mm - but -- IF a combo -- what about using the Nikon 100 mm Scanner Lens as a base? Are the 10...

I remember seeing the MTF, etc curves as published by Rodenstock but for some reason can't find them now.... Does anyone have ... perhaps a saved copy? Hi Ray! I just have checked my saved copy from Rodenstock -- The German and English language catalog has first been published in May 2009 (as the o...
