Lovely shot and pose.
Normally they do this to minimise the sun's heat (ie they are over-heating) and point their tail roughly toward the sun. First time I saw this pose I thought it was an aggression pose.

Wonderful looking snake and a lovely shot of it. I always like the colours and textures in reptile shots - probably because I do all my shooting in my garden and I don't have any reptiles in it (probably a good thing).

Thanks Ken , Mike and Rik for looking and commenting. Much appreciated. Rik - I said dreaded as theses tend to be one of the "stock" starter shots for new macrophotographers :) The spiders web was between the rungs of a ladder leaning against my garage above a window. I put a plastic bottle onto the...

Raindrops in spiders web

Some dreaded raindrops in spider web shots. These were between the rungs of a ladder leaning against my rear garage wall. The shots have been focus stacked to get both the drops and the refractions in focus. Brian V. Click on Pics for larger size http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2243/2069539632_0ceb4e...

Thanks beetleman :)
Fraid I love these little springtails - look like alien 6 legged cows especially when you find a herd of them grazing.

Excellent captures by all- the crab spider isn't doing a very good job of colour matching with the flower though :)

Interesting topic. Someone asked on flickr what my definition of macro was and I didn't realise that I came up with the "kodak" definition - " I prefer an easier definition of- It should show detail on the PC screen that you cannot see with the naked eye." I later added when the subject was within a...
