I like these little fellahs - look like 6 legged alien cows to me :)
You can see they actually walk on tip toe on the tip/edge of their outer claw.

Globular springtail focus stack

Taken at 5:1 with an MPE-65 F6.3 and hand stacked from 5 shots.
The springtail is about 2mm body length.

Lovely shot - I'm very familair with the flower- our next door neighbour has one right next to our fence and it keeps the few winter insects about fuelled up.

Thanks for the comments everyone :) Think springtails are thought to be the most numerous bugs in the world, they also outjump fleas in power weight terms. Some winter springtails

These little bugs get more numerous in the cooler (or perhaps wetter) Winter months here. All taken at 5.1 with an MP-E 65- single shots First two shots small white springtails- longest about 0.7mm.
