I don't know exactly what this thread is doing in here. Maybe general discussions is the place for it. Location will never be compulsory, same as religion, colour of skin, male or female, etc, etc. Heck, its a forum for photomacrography and photomicrography. Not anything else. Its about the images ....

Howdy Rik. Been working in the south island here for over a year in Queenstown, living out of a suitcase. Never again !! This is our third host and server (another one sitting there at anytime if we need it, same host, different server). What we did at the time on the first original server, w...

Tom and I discussed this at the time Rik and it was decided to prune images and posts back to a certain age. BUT and its an important BUT. At the time on the old forum, we were very restricted on the server we were on. From memory (forgive me if I'm wrong), we had 100mb of space and 1 gig of bandwid...

Enough images are stolen and used at smaller sizes. Why give them larger. From other photography forums, believe me, it happens and more often than you may think.

Aww heck, didn't mean to stir up a hornets nest. :D Best thing to do is to download a 30 day trial http://www.ulead.com/pi/ What does Photoimpact have.........phew. It does things so much quicker, its does HDR, black and white, comes with thousands of built in filters and effects like nothing I've e...

Photoimpact !!! Honestly leaves PS CS3 to shame IMO at least and I use graphics software way beyound what most people would us it for Betty. I use CS3 only for tutorials for people that use PS. For everything else, I use Photoimpact. Far more versatile with a lot more features than CS3 at a m...

I'll have a good read thanks Rik. Just tried disabling hot linking from the server and all the avatars disappeared  . That means storage could be a problem if we disallow it. Interesting in that we can add folders or take folders out of the hot linking info box. Anyway, thanks and I'll have a ...

Yes thats a bit of a double edged sword Craig. If we take our own private sites, we disallow hot linking from the server, the problem then comes in, we can't link ourselves to place into forums. Or.........is there a way that the owner of the site can still use the links for images in a forum ??. Al...

The answer I got to start with was something like this (without trying to find the email), "I am bringing attention to some of the finest nature images out there. Why would anyone object to having their work among some of the best". Something like that from memory. Ron did contact them and then ther...

Look, how rampant and blatant is it ??. Easy.......... Ron and good friend of mine (Rik will know that name and Sue) had at least one image stolen on the internet and posted on another site. This was brought to everyones attention on nature photography forums. Heres one of Ron's shots http://www.yui...
