Further googling has shown a vertical column adjust (Y axis in the final image) http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/989_levon_biss_column_1.jpg and a 2-axis horizontal slide table (X,Z in the final image), with concentric controls http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/989_levon_bis...

Levon Biss - how many axes of stacking

I just saw Levon Biss's beautiful prints on BBC Springwatch. Does anyone know how bg (pixels) his images are, either as captured, or as printed? I know he's using multiple Z-stacked-images to get multiple lighting effects. Is he also using X-Y stacking (mosaic panorama AKA giga pixel) techniques to ...

Careful reading of the help page (!!) shows that one can also invoke CombineZP from the command line, which suits my scripting style nicely, as well as the provided Batch program. On further reading, I found that macros can call other macros; I was going to add a new macro, but there appears to be a...

Truly minimal kit

I was researching some scripting techniques for a project (not macro) I'm working on using CHDK software on Canon Powershot cameras. I tripped across a photo made by focus stacking a set of images capture using a Canon S5IS Raynox DCR-250 and CHDK focus tracking software. No rails, no external compu...

Macro for use with CombineZPBatch?

I've more or less got my head round CombineZP's interesting GUI. So now I "just" want to stack stuff, for which CZPBatch seems ideal (literally made for the job). But there's a problem. The easiest way to use CombineZP is to simply pick "All Methods" from the macro menu. This Aligns and Balances the...

It opens a help window with a typical (but short) help menu Thank you. Now I just have to get the help working under Wine :-( I've downloaded and unpacked the source for CombineZP, and I can see a file "CZPHelp.chm" EDIT; CZPHelp.chm is also present in the install directory "~/.wine/drive_c/Program...

Question; on a "normal" Windows install of CombineZP, does the Simple Mode help button, or Menu Mode "Help->CombineZP Help" menu item do anything?

I don't know if I'm looking at a CombineZP "feature" or a Wine "bug" at the moment.

Following a guess on the Wine support forum, I did the following: Lacking other options or advice, I "just tried" using winecfg->libraries to add an override of "gdiplus (native, builtin)". CombineZP now loads my image files successfully. I think my images have loaded - but I don't now how to use Co...

My best so far:

Given the cost there of a 150x200 50/50 mirror, the cost of the Forensic supplier's product starts to look a little high - it's probably all overhead, in truth.

beam splitter/two way mirror source?

There is no universal name for this stuff. Spy-Mirror, One-Way Mirror, Two Way Mirror, Three Way Mirror, Semi Silvered Glass, Half Silvered Mirror, VisiGlass, Observation Glass, Beam Splitter. What I want is a piece of glass that transmits 50% of the light that falls upon it, and reflects the other ...

(Depends on meaning of "fits within the working distance" :? ) You post demands careful thought, but I'll just answer your question; by "working distance" I just mean the distance from the lens to the subject. I would like my rig to be a box that will (obviously?) fit in this distance. It is easy t...

Wow! If my geometry/maths (which is rusty) is right, it all boils
down to:

The maximum subject size which can be axially lit using a light source which fits within the working distance is 1/3 the working distance.
