Thank you, Keith!
I feel like I'm slowly getting to where I want to be with field macros, perhaps its the new camera that gave me a sort of "boost" during the last sessions

Baton blue, harvestman and other critters
https://i.imgur.com/ryN79wF.jpeg Pseudophilotes baton a.k.a. "Baton blue" - finally got a photo of this butterfly that I'm happy with! 2 image stack, at f5.6 - and if you look closely you can spot the tiny fly in the bottom left corner! https://i.imgur.com/YWfYIN7.jpeg Mint leaf beetle yet again - ...

Re: IBIS & ES to the rescue!
A very good set! Not using the remote just makes it slightly more challenging. Thank you! This weekend I did not forget to bring the remote and the results are really quite nice! Of course it's not reasonable to expect a shutter speed of 0.5s to deliver usable images for deep stacks, but with IBIS ...

Re: getting close to a rhododendron leafhopper
=D> excellent results!!! How did you manage to keep it so still at that magnification? When I'm outside it's difficult enough to get successful stacks at 2x. Would you mind sharing your complete formula? I think I use the same that Rik does for my calculations but with a (rather generous) 35-40% ove...

Re: New camera or new lens?
[..] Here's- I think - the reason why it's not really necessary to switch to MFT for macro photography. Whatever you gain in "crop"-magnification you end up weighing against aperture/diffraction limits of the sensor (or outdoors in subject separation). So while it sounds great to get a "higher magn...

Re: Canon R7 or R10
Are you planning on shooting outdoors or only in a studio?
Looking at the specs I'd gravitate towards the R7 due to IBIS, the larger viewfinder, longer battery life, faster USB-connection, higher display-resolution..

Re: New camera or new lens?
I have the g9m2 and the fz1000ii. The g5m2 would be in the middle with e.g. 4k 60fps 10bit. They have all many but different formats, but for focus stacking they work all. Keep in mind that with MFT you need about half the focal length for the tube lens to get half magnification compared to 35mm. H...

IBIS & ES to the rescue!
I recently bought the Sony A6700 to replace my A6000 as there are lot of great features the newer camera has, such as IBIS, ES, an articulated screen, high (continuous ) fps,... take a pick! Of course there are always some issues (trying to find a proper L-bracket or cage took loner than expected) b...

https://mitutoyo.eu/officefinder/Web/dealers/frontend/?location=eu&type=0 Here's a map of all Mitutoyo dealers in Europe Interesting that the map shows none in France, though lots surrounding it. Any idea what's the reason for that? --Rik It's full of French, best to avoid altogether. (I'm kidding,...

Re: Comparing 100mm RF and Laowa 25mm
I just now found this very positive review of the Nisi close-up lenses: https://www.allanwallsphotography.com/blog/nisi It always depends on what the reviewer compares it to and what the expectations are regarding the image quality. The photos shown are heavily cropped in 16:9 (or something close t...
