I set custom WB in Utility shooting raw altough I tink that it also would work with jpg:
I just use the dropper in the desired zone of the live image and it remains during the session

Re: Best Canon mirrorless body
If a version III of the M6 were to come onto the market, then everything would be clear to me what I would do. But I'd still like to see what the R7 Mark II will have to offer. I'm also valuating of switching to R7 (...or its MkII :D ), maybe not the best mirrorless in the market but I have Canon l...

Do you refer to the Zeiss Lucigen condenser? (I think that it's just an opal glass very close to the slide and back illuminated)DIY Lucigen polarized oblique illumination

Re: Optiphot Bertrand head
What seems weird in this head is the position of the Amici-Bertrand lens: in most polarizing microscopes it is placed over the nosepiece in the microscope body or in an intermediate piece and in co-planar position with the slide, not at the head and co-planar with the eyepieces. This wouldn't allow ...

Re: kitchen ants (pictures added)
Very interesting thread, about the last stereo pair i read external muscle and to me (pretty ignorant in insects weirdness) it seems a really strange feature, are you sure abut being a true muscle?
In the last setup picture, what's the WD with cover attached? Still 1mm?

Re: Methods to evaluate performance of a focus rail
There are also a few high power microscopes that have a single knob that provides both coarse and fine focus depending on how you turn it. I have one of those, for which fine focus moves only a total of 0.3 mm in 1/2 turn, after which continuing to turn the knob gives coarse focus. Reversing the di...

Re: Methods to evaluate performance of a focus rail
Hello rjlittlefield. Fascinating and complex matter; for me because I'm just a simple artist, but with an insatiable curiosity about the mechanics of things. I have an old Nikon SMZ-1 stereo microscope that I have been cleaning and restoring, with my limited knowledge. It's functional. It allows me...

Re: Question about Optiphot and infinity corrected objectives
I ignore which infinite heads could mount on the Optiphot (the trick with a epiilluminator seems good) but about the infinite objectives you can use Olympus UIS or UIS2 or Nikon EPI CF infinites with RMS thread, or also could mount Nikon CFI60 with a M25 to RMS adapter if your in your stand the stag...

Re: Efficient diffuse macro lighting for SWD objectives
I said "related" because, if I understand it well, the Lieberkühn's is just a reflector surrounding the lens* while yours is a double reflector, playing the conical objective tip an important role for illuminating the white diffusing reflector, am I right? * and would be of little utility with very ...

Very nice!
You have invented something related with the Lieberkühn reflector

Re: Bellows suggestions?
They are cheap for some reasons. "E" means "economy", I think. They are low end objectives mainly for student grade microscopes, achromats, non plan corrected and likely with not so big image circle although sometimes you can find great surprises "hidden gems" The 10X will be useful within its limit...

Re: What camera adapter for trinoclear microscope
Hi Peter, you're welcome! So, my conclusion is that I could try the 0.5x relay lens in stead of the 0.35x. Do you agree? If yes, how to order a lens like that? Just “relay lens, 0.5x”?
Last question: will the light output be less than using the 0,35x lens? That might be a disadvantage.
I think tha...
