Re: 200mm Tube Lens Full Frame Test

Only 5 images per day are allowed, so no Nikon CFN Plan 2x 0.05 160/- or Plan 2.5x 0.075 210/0 or my many other 2x today. This rule (actually 6 images) applies to image galleries fora but not to technical ones Take a look at the Posting Guidelines https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Tungsten to LED Microscope conversion

Typically a blue filter (usually provided with most microscopes) is enough to have nice well balanced illumination with halogen or other incandescent lamps for vision. With a digital camera a custom white balance is to be recommended in all cases. Halogen usually does not flicker and has good contin...

Re: Windows XP HELP!

Adam,
Thanks for the links. I forgot the source of my solution and despite I found your second linked site, now I recognize (almost for sure :-k ) that I grabbed it from your first linked one

Re: Windows XP HELP!

Pau, I do remember seeing that somewhere; I don't remember why I didn't try it. Please do post the solution; it is a common problem for Nikon scanner users. Amazing that the tech support could not tell you that solution! Likely it was here https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2180...

Re: Windows XP HELP!

I still keep an XP virtual machine to run an old Nikon film scanner. When I switched from XP to Win7 neither the SCSI card and Nikon Coolscan 4000ED scanner drivers were compatible. After buying a new card I asked Nikon in Europe with no response and Nikon USA just answered something like "model di...

Re: Single tube lens l=100mm or 150mm

In our jargon a tube lens is a converging lens used to focus the "focussed to infinite" parallel emerging light rays of an infinite corrected objective onto the sensor or eyepiece. (in a microscope such a lens is placed inside the optical tube) Reading your message text what you want is an empty ext...

Re: How do the Tradeoffs Work? - Steppers for Horizontal Rails

Maybe off topic, but, at least for high magnification and not high suspended weight coupling the motor to a microscope focus block will be superior both for precision and to prevent sliding down

Re: Reverse mounting Minolta CE 30mm f/2.8 lens

Keep superglue away of lenses!
It produces vapors that tend to condense on the nearby surfaces and are hard to remove. This can be fatal for the lens surface.

Re: Playing with the Nikon BD Plan Apo 40/0.80

I use the non BD MPlan Apo version. I like its IQ for direct projection on APSC although the 0.7mm WD and wider tip prevents it to be used with "macro style" illumination, at least in my hands. I've used it in the microscope with transillumination (like an normal microscope objective but with no cov...

Re: Testate amoeba: Diflugia corona

Wonderful video (and pictures), as usual =D>

The only aspect I'm not sure to like is the background color, in some cases with a light purple or magenta tint. Have you tried to do a custom WB before filming in order to get a neutral background?

Re: Information about Nikon CFI Plan 10X Achromat Objective MRL00102 and Reflex Full Frame

This objective is famous for its big image circle so almost for sure it can cover FF at 10X, not likely at 5X with good quality at the periphery. Be aware that it is designed to fill a 25mm image circle at 10X. I use the same Canon zoom as tube lens with the same objective on APSC and it begins to v...

Re: Two afocal photomicrography setups (now three)

Hi Adam, I've seen lots of these MC63 adapters for sale and I've been tempted to buy one just by curiosity. Like you I guess that the 63mm lens inside might be the same or closely related with the one in my SLR adapter, nice to see it dismounted and adapted. Which is the original position of the 63m...
