Re: Olympus BH-2 voltage adjustment?

(I'm not sure to really understand the question) I can see the the switch underneath the microscopes is labeled 100-115V, on the inside the switch is labeled something like 230-250V. Is there maybe just a different tapping on the transformer that can be used to change them to 230-245V? I can't say f...

Re: Fleeting fern fluorescence

Lou, this is a very interesting thread, and an excellent stack,BTW After a bit more testing, I see that my home-made UV flashes are not only weak, they are also leaking lots of red (and IR?) light. My UV-pass filters, which I have mounted on the flashes, are the kind that also pass IR. This never ma...

Re: episcopic adapter

Beginning from the end, And one last question. Isn't this system extremely sensitive to loss of contrast and reflections in the image? Yes, it is, due to reflections both on the subject surface and on the objective lens elements. In many cases this kind of systems use crossed polarizers, a polarizer...

Re: Portulaca seeds

Searching with some more patience I've also found few images and infos of Portulaca metallic looking seeds. All they point to other species than P. oleracea http://cellimagelibrary.org/images/41657 https://cdeep3m-viewer.crbs.ucsd.edu/image_viewer/CIL_41657 (Honorable mention at Olympus BioScapes 20...

Re: Wandering into fluoroverse

Very nice project! and results, BTW

Time ago I made a similar but more complex and much less brave device, now a bit improved with more and better UV LEDs and a big Leica light shield for the LEDs

Re: Free: Manfrotto 3232 tilting monopod head

I use this head permanently attached to a column in my vertical macro setup. It needs strong tightening, yes, but then it can handle lots of weight, I've suspended a heavy RED cine camera from it without issues. Likely not the most useful for monopod field work but an useful part. I would take it if...

Re: Haze?

I mainly shoot with continuous illumination with a Canon 7D and Wemacro (Micromate). I use EFSC and control both camera and Wemacro from the computer. To allow the camera shooting when LV is enabled at the computer (through Canon Utility) I need to activate LV at the camera too. With this configurat...
