Very nice shots John I also have the Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II L a very nice all around nature walkaround lens. I tend to use mine with the 1.4x III extender on. Good for birds, butterflies and dragonflies.

There were about 11-12 nymphs clustered on the other side of the leaf to the eggs but yeah they hung around a while after hatching,I had thought they'd disperse quickly.

Shot at 3x with a Canon R5 and MP-E65mm.

I missed the actual hatching and there seems to have been a moult already judging by the nymph size and old exoskeletons.

Wonderful shot and I like the tight framing! IMHO it would be better if you turned it to the right. I know you probably posted it as you took it, but there's nothing in the frame to force the orientation of the subject and I keep turning my head to look at the photo.
