Could you get a exemption/refund under Art. 14, 9-11, 13 and 14, Exemption for re-importation?
See Procedure of Obtaining Refunds/ Drawbacks on Duty Payments with a link to a list (PDF) at the bottom.

Re: Looking for least expensive variable 12VDC 8A power supply
Thanks John. Am I correct in thinking that, because the output is 12VAC, I cannot use the PWM dimmer? What kind of dimmer would I use and do I wire it to the 120VAC input side of power supply or the 12V output side of the power supply? The halogen transformer I linked, and probably others like it t...

Re: Looking for least expensive variable 12VDC 8A power supply
At the start, the filament looks like a short circuit. It could easily take a 1/10s for it to fully heat up, but it really depends on how much current the power supply and/or dimmer can provide before they detect an overload and shut down, and then for how long. (Some supplies you have to turn off.)...

Re: Looking for least expensive variable 12VDC 8A power supply
Incandescent bulbs have a very low cold resistance (roughly 1/10th of when hot) and are among the most challenging loads to power with solid state electronics. Given its compactness, I expect you have a PWM dimmer and that you will need to oversize the power supply to keep the supply from fold-back ...

Re: about Wild/leica photoeyepiece ?
Very good. From the soft vignetting, the reduced brightness and, oh, a picture that you sent me, I tend to the notion that the camera was looking through two, stacked photo tubes. If that is so, that is helpful to me as I am thinking of doing something like that. Thank you!

Re: UV against lens fungus
Can UV light stop fungus growth inside objective ? Formaldehyde (gas) is a classic for sterilizing microscopes and, some decades ago, even entire rooms. See for example: Suzuki A and Y. Namba, 1982. Sterilization of operating microscope and flexible fiber-optic illuminator by formaldehyde gas. Nago...

Re: Sony A7Rii USB Tethering
Thanks for the followup. I am happy that the suggestion to switch the USB VBUS connection did the trick. Sometimes the simplest solutions work out the best – and a simple switch, mechanical or electronic, is hard to beat.

Re: Test wafer distribution: Many features, includes res chart
You may use superglue, or UV glue which is better. Getting the wafer totally in line with the slide might be a bit difficult, so UV glue is better as you have plenty time to position it.... I was going to try some methyl methacrylate (MMA) adhesive that has a 10 minute pot time since it is somewhat...

Re: Test wafer distribution: Many features, includes res chart
... How about entombing the chips inside a thick, stiff, covered cavity?... That will most likely not work. Auspost will scan these stuff and if it looks like anything other than documents (which it is not), they just return it to the sender.... It was just a thought along with "Photographs – DO NO...

Re: Test wafer distribution: Many features, includes res chart
... I honestly feel both annoyed and pissed at myself. I should have just went with my gut instinct and only offered standard post. It's $25, which is a lot more expensive, but there's no rollers to put the chips back onto the beach.... Since you have 20mm thickness to work with and have paid for, ...

You are welcome. Here is an old version of an Olympus remote shutter, tethering box, before I flipped everything upside down and made a peek inside less interesting: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/7072_tether_box_rev_c_2.jpg At the far left is a salvaged and potted Olympus 12-pin mult...

Hi Paul, I have zero experience abusing Sony cameras, but from what little I have read, like Olympus, they expect the remote control to ground the FOCUS and SHUTTER inputs to focus the camera and take a picture. You can configure Olympus µ4/3rds cameras so that they power up and pretend to be disk d...
