Sorry, I left too much undescribed.
Rik,
If there is no electrical screening/ legacy component to the twisted copper sheathing,
then it's maybe there for physical structure/protection of the finer underlying wires.

Re: Two of these strands are not like the others...

I am still puzzled by this particular cable Rik, The spiral copper wrap provides ‘screening’ to minimize Electro-Magnetic Interference (emi) Helps prevent external emi affecting the transmission of signals within the cable and prevent emi produced by currents within the cable interfering with sensi...

Re: What to do when a 10 billion Pixel scan is too small?

"It really is a very impressive work" Ray, I’m not too clued up on 3D rendering. I need to do some reading up on that. Was recently working with a 2D museum scan, so this got my interest. Not so many pixels, but the scale was pretty big (35,052,000 square mm) so >200 times the area of the Vermeer pa...

More information about elevated printing in this brochure by Canon: "PRISMAelevate XL".

Cool process. Going to be people putting their fingers all over the work for some tactile feedback though.

Yes Bob, 88 hours for a scan!
That's dedication.
I had some 'Gear Envy' watching this.

What to do when a 10 billion Pixel scan is too small?

What to do when a 10 billion Pixel scan is too small?
Easy, redo it at 108 billion!

So, it was with the Johannes Vermeer painting, ‘Girl with the pearl earring’.

Re: Electronic Shutter and Flash

I have just checked and realized that
I have already taken almost 240 thousand photos.
All with the full electronic shutter,
Only 240,000, Yikes!

Re: Electronic Shutter and Flash

for simple things like delay device, use digispark, Attiny 85 based device, it has embedded USB I have seen this used with additional circuitry for similar control. I would need some sort of guide with this, especially programming, as I have no experience with that. Cool that this tiny package can ...

I have been using flashes with a full electronic shutter for about 5 years.
Nice work! In your 5 years with electronic shutter, must have saved you wearing out a camera or two!

Re: Electronic Shutter and Flash

Rik, My Fuji XT-20 is similar in that it too has the electronic/mechanical second.
I was just thinking of the wear and tear on a mechanical shutter.

I may have a go at a diy solution. Blow the dust off my test gear!
Good to hear from others in the same boat.

Electronic Shutter and Flash

Putting an indoor rig together, Auto rail, cage, camera and flash lighting. Thought to try a stack without everything in place. Wanted to go with camera electronic shutter, firing flash units. I did not realise, like most cameras out there, flash is not supported with electronic shutter. I know that...

Re: GIF & rocking stereo artefacts

A fair bit of work involved. Well done! I take it you have to make 9 seperate stacks for this? Artefacts aside, the small perspective shift and lighting facets work well. It's possible of course to make a mp4. Only downside is the limitation on image/frame frequency. Could introduce variants on the ...
