I think you complicate and obfuscate the matter. There are a few fora where any decent image could go unremarked and they all are slow with few regular posters. They look like they could easily die without new blood and refreshed perspective. I see nothing wrong with saying; Good shot, or; Very nice...

Hello Lothar. That would be ok, I'm actually doing that for a couple sites here in Oz. Or you could select one of these if it's a Lynx Spider you are after in particular : http://beingmark.com/2011/05/06/ If you would like to select a different spider from my posted collections and have a google acc...

No problem, if you have nothing to say and my stuff already looks too familiar to you, as you suggest. But praise isn't the only reason to comment, as you seem to imply is all I am looking for. In fact it is the least attractive as those comments actually say nothing other than express a degree of p...

I'm no expert Harold. I just do my best with what works for me, having a penchant for macro.

The Blue Banded Bee takes umbrage at being shot at while asleep. Who can blame him ...

They get antsy when disturbed at night and kick and shout - no, never heard one except to buzzz ...

#3 for me as the flies are more focused into the frame but I'd still like to see them closer up. And if you don't include the exif at least make it available.

Sorry, but that doesn't look like an argument for AF. The first is OOF and the second is deep DOF. I don't disagree that AF can be used effectively but I think you are using an extending lens and AFAIK they just won't do it consistently. The extending lens often hunts and ends up focusing on the wro...

Hello Harold. The old SLR/film era is probably equivalent to the present bridge/Achromat era? In terms of IQ, which to me means less noise. The only reason I do it this way is my eyesight - I need good AF and no hunting as most extending macro lenses do - so it comes down to my aim and placement of ...

I really only do my best having learnt so much from so many and put it all together for my take. If it helps that's got to be good. Mark, Thank you incredibly for sharing that. It is beautifully written, even better illustrated and most likely the best thing I have read on photography. I keep reachi...

No problem, I just can't say it in a few words. So after being asked enough times I wrote up my take on the process here : http://beingmark.com/macro-illustrated/ It's long but you should find the info you want half way, plus exif is usually in the file. Hi, I am new here, not sure if you have said ...
