Corrected tube lens for Leica infinity corrected objectives

Hi I've been looking at a Leica infinity corrected objective. I understand that Leica corrects for transverse chromatic aberration and astigmatism in the tube lens. I suspect that the CA could be corrected fairly easily in software, but I don't think that the astigmatism would be easy to remove. I d...

It is also my understanding that zeiss microscopes did some of the chromatic aberration correction in the eyepiece. It was my hope that this would be longitudinal and would stack out. I haven't found any more technical descriptions of this. I don't know if this is a large part of my issue.

Disappointed with results from an apochromat zeiss

Hi, I recently bought a older apochromat RMS objective, a 10x 0.3. It wasn't very expensive, but I thought that it being a zeiss and an apo it should be pretty good. I also don't have anything in that magnification. I do have a cheap unbranded plan acho 10x 0.25, but since I only have a 100mm tube l...

Thanks very much, rjlittlefield. That does make sense. I think I've got a few things to try and experiment with. I was mainly surprised at the image quality as I also got a cheap 4x 0.10 plan achromat somewhere else, and it's pretty great. Since they get about the same magnification it was disappoin...

I thought that also, the image circle fills the sensor (35mm) albeit with quite a lot of vignetting. But the image quality isn't great even in the dead centre.

Effect on image quality of tube lens focal length?

Hi Guys, I do most of my macro photograph with a macro lens and a Raynox, but I thought I'd try using some microscope objectives. I tried an RMS objective, and it worked great, but I also got an infinity corrected objective and that was pretty disappointing. The objective is an unbranded 10x 0.25NA ...
