As someone who used to work in the personal care industry (and in the development of shaving products) that is a very, very fine image. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, I had a look on research gate of your work. What is the best stubble softening shaving soap in your opinion?

Re: FS:(europe) Mitutoyo plan apo 20x 0.42

if the lens is Ok than the price is very affordable, I payed more for my copy. Why don't you peel off the plastic wrap and show a picture made with this lens?

On the other hand, I've recently been testing a lens from the company in your link, and will soon be posting on its superb results.
Chris any update

BTW, I was impressed by the amount of O-ring material that was simply missing. Is this typical in such failures?

I think this is a severe failure ;-)

Re: perspective on O-ring (images added)

Riks_o-ring.jpg I would be at least mildly curious to hear thoughts about what caused the failure. --Rik Rik, for me it looks like the O-Ring was cut and then after a while burst through. On the other hand you told that there are no burs or sharp corners. Is the a cross bore (without chamfers) wher...

Re: perspective on O-ring

nice work on eliminating distortion, but for somebody who earns his living in sealing technology I would say this foto cannot give any hint for an expert in order to find out the root cause for the failure. The camera did not mange the dynamic range of a black O-Ring on white paper. Everything es de...

AF microscope cameras for stacking

Hi, I stumbled over "industrial" cameras with C-mount with internal Autofocus, something like this: https://www.gtvision.co.uk/GXCAM-HICHROME-SMII-HDMI-High-Resolution-1080P-Live-Camera-Screen Is there a camera or a software available which can take use of the axial sensor movement for taking image ...

Re: New High Power Setup

Hi Lothman Nice find. A question if I may about this stage. Does it mount to the Nikon Optiphot stage holder or ring mount on the focus block? Or is further fabrication required? Thank you. these tables are rather big and probably designed to be used on a dissecting microscope or on a stand with a ...

 precision cutting tools rule. When I looked at my stubbles, I saw this bright core for the first time and hoped that this is OK. So seeing yours very similar makes me confident that this is normal. I wonder whether "normal" hair also has such a core. regards Lothar P.S.: from the number of th...

I use one of these xy tables from China and I'm very happy with it. No problem to to adjust things at 20x and offers an aperture for transmitted light.

Re: beard stubble

How did you collect and prepare the specimen? I rinsed my saftey razor in a bowl, the stubbles sank down. I poured the shaving soapy water off. Rinsed with very strong soap solution, then several times with water and finally Isopropanol. For taking the shots I put the stubbles on a microscope slide...
