I definitely hear that! I acquired so many pieces, all with different mounts. It's funny how you begin to ask friends for their skills to help you with your own. My gf's dad has a moderately sized shop so he was able to tap and die areas for me to mount too. I then went to other friends for their 3D...

The use of arcas and extrusions is a great method for creating a rig- it's one I use myself and one that I've seen throughout the forums. With my experience, I found that raising my rig from the table created more stability issues (unless you have something very heavy which can dampen vibrations). I...

I'm just interested in the beautiful imagery and creating some interesting content. I was just looking to see if anyone here had some examples of their work or attempts.

Kirlian Photography

One of my instagram followers messaged me about a photography technique (Kirlian). I searched it here and just saw it mentioned.

Has anyone on this board attempted this (focus stacking or not)? I'm highly fascinated in the imagery that might be able to be captured.

Haha, correction - category is old - the mobile display really made it look like the whole category was new from the product catalog.

New Newport items and categories

Like many of you, I use Newport lifts, stages, and mounts, but it looks like they're now creating equipment that is aimed at optical mechanisms/aids. I'm not sure when the category was added, but here's a link to some of their new stuff: https://www.newport.com/search/?q=:relevence:featuredItem:NEW:...

Thank you for confirming my suspicions :) I'll try playing with a few of the zoom lenses I have and will run some tests to see which may work best. Thank you Rik!

Opening this back up for clarification. I'm using a vintage 200mm as a relay lens: https://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/vivitar-200mm-f-3-5-auto-telephoto-m42-mount.html I have some massive vignetting that is similar to the original photo (if not a bit more). I shoot in aspc mode which negates t...

Alrighty, the diffusion material from https://www.rpcphotonics.com/ came and I've run various tests with it. Out of the box, it's fairly worthless for our application. Since it's for highly directed light, like a laser, it pretty much just let's a strobe right through. It's very neat to play with th...

Glad to see you're reconsidering the Mitutoyos - you'll be much better off grabbing a BD or M, whichever is cheaper, over a Motic.

I hear ya- all of my adapters come from Russia so it's definitely something I'm used to- I've just never been charged 20 bucks for shipping in the same country on an item that weighs less than a pound haha. It'll be here in a few days so it's probably just a general price to handle international shi...

What kind of leaf is this? Those cystolithic trichomes look ever so familiar.

I'll update this topic once it gets in :) It should get here next week (which is sad as shipping costs were brutal, haha)

Ordered a $50 dollar sheet from https://www.rpcphotonics.com/ Not sure it's going to be any good (or the size of the sheet), but I've had great luck with PET before as that's what my current diffuser is made of. Shipping was a little overkill imo, but it's not calculated shipping so expected. Will r...
