Re: Advice with condensers

Thanks Macro_Cosmos. I'll keep watching.
This is a Long working distance but I'm not sure if is compatible with the diaphot.

Re: Advice with condensers

Yes, my first concern is have no enough space between frontal condenser lens and stage. I find some lwd condensers, but with a low N.A. High N.A with lwd are really expensive (and difficult to find on ebay)

Re: Advice with condensers

Thank you Macro_Cosmos. I have some lens, nothing above 0.9 NA. The dovetail on Diaphot is a circular one, seems that any of those in the links could work (maybe with some 'handcraft'?)
It's a kind of mystery to find a list of compatible condensers.

Advice with condensers

I am hesitant to buy one of these condensers for my Diaphot TMD. Initially I would not work beyond 40x or 60x, with some fluor or apo optics, allways dry, i have no intention of working with oil immersion and phase contrast is not a priority for me. All these condensees are Achromatic. Which one can...

Re: Advice with objectives for TMD

Really good information and very interesting. Those techniques of hanging water drops must must be really difficult to achieve, but a whole new world to experiment with it . Thank you very much zzffnn.

Re: Advice with objectives for TMD

People usually don't buy inverted scopes for photography use. If they do that, they would have known exactly what to do / use. To recommend you better optics, you may want to share with us, your budget, photography subject (size / texture / transparency) and purpose. I am sure Pau would help you a ...

Re: Advice with objectives for TMD

May I ask why you already want to get better objectives? The ones you got with the scope ain't bad at all in my experience (I have the 10x 0.25 E achromat DL, and the 20x 0.4 DL 0-2mm, and find both to be quite nice). The 20x in particular should work really well for pond critters. I was almost goi...

Re: Advice with objectives for TMD

- Yes it is Periplan (although an old model likely for 170 stands*) For visual work any 160 (or even 170) DIN objective will work reasonably well with your Nikon eyepieces at the centre of the image, the periphery will show some issues: lateral CA and maybe less flatness of field. For photography t...

Re: Advice with objectives for TMD

I am looking for optics on ebay to complement the optics that have come to me with my Diaphot TMD. But it is true that if I limit my searches to Nikon cf, 160 / -, lwd and fluor lenses, there are virtually no options (and the few that are there are very expensive). Can anyone tell me if this eyepiec...

Re: Problem with shafts on Diaphot TMD

Congrats! Fixes like this can be annoying in the moment, but you generally only have to do them once and then it's smooth sailing, and you also have got a better understanding how how your instrument is put together. Kind of like the old "buy once cry once" aphorism, but less rhymey. Thanks, I lear...

Re: Problem with shafts on Diaphot TMD

Thank you all very much. After many hours injecting light oil into the dovetail contact lines (with a syringe as Pau suggests) and leave on for 12 hours, then rub with solvent, then oil again .... finally, the light paths optics moves !!!!! After, I cleaned and add lithium grease, anb the system mov...

Re: I don't like gypsy moths

Good pictures. A native species here in Europe. Unfortunately human actions induct alien species and cause environmental damage. Here is a common insect and sometimes it could happen a temporally demographic explosion that can affect Quercus trees causing defoliation. Usually, vegetation recovers we...
