I found this little beetle at the bottom of a bowl of fruit... The red highlights on the black body are pretty.

Here's a shot I did about a month ago... I suspended the bill by the ends, lit the top with visible light, and shone a high power UV light at the underside of the bill. Not the greatest quality, but I was about a week into photomacrography. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/6233_Five_dol...

Short working distances, new (used) camera, and new stand
I'm *mostly* sure that the Zeiss objectives are fully corrected, and almost certain that the Leitz objectives would require a Leitz correcting tube lens. The short working distance for most of these objectives makes lighting of the subject difficult. Even the Zeiss 10x 0.30 Epiplan Neofluor (my lowe...

Disabilities and photography
It's interesting how people who are passionate about a hobby will find ways to overcome their disabilities. The OP for a recent topic has glaucoma, someone else chimed in with a different eye issue (macular degeneration), and in another forum section was an individual who is bedridden. While these a...

With the help of this forum, my photos are getting better
I'm new to this photomacrography niche, and still learning. And the learning curve is very steep! Recently while cleaning out my garage, I found some Zeiss objectives from a decommissioned machine. Trying to use the 10x objective with my Panasonic GX8 m4/3 camera led me down the rabbit hole of focus...
