Thanks! And sorry for the confusion. I never get this straight :-) I got as close as Tipulomorpha Tipuloidea for ID. I am not good with the common names, even in my own language. I have bought 2 new books, "A Dipterist's Handbook", and "Dipterist Start Pack". I will get better!

And here is an Isoptera or termite in Burmite. This one cost me $120. I only wanted a couple of Burmite pieces because they are so old. I'm going back to Baltic amber soon because of the lower price and much better optical properties. Termites have not changed much in 100 million years... LOMO 3.5x ...

99 mill year old daddy longlegs

I got this piece of Burmite (amber from Myanmar) very cheap, only $60. Probably because this inclusion was damged by the polishing process, and because the amber was dark and full of debris. And even though this is not a good picture, I would like to share it, because I finally have found an amber i...

What a beautiful shot of the wing! And the beast itself looks very scary!

Thanks again Mark for taking of your time and have patience with me. I have ordered the book. I also see that the title of this thread is all wrong. If it was a Dolichopodidae, it would have been an Orthorrhapha, a lesser fly, and not a Brachycera, a higher fly. I'm sorry for this mess. As the inclu...

Thanks a lot, Mark! I'm no good at ID'ing. I use the key in the book "Amber" by Andrew Ross. It's very basic. Fruit fly it is then! :)

Brachycera Dolichopodidae in amber

I have finally reached a technical level on my amber photography, that now is only limited by the optical quality of the amber itself. It turns out there is no lens or technique that solve all problems with this rather complicated subject matter, but I have made some sort of formula that helps a lot...

I sugest this to be a Homoptera Aphidoidea, a Greenfly and a bug. A suborder of the Hemiptera. It is usual to find in Baltic amber, and the key described in Andrew Ross' book "Amber, the natural time capsule" (Natural History Museum, London 2009) fits perfectly. Thanks to this book a lot of my inclu...

Thanks for all input. I would estimate that as it is, the proboscis is almost twice the length of the entire body. At first view I actually thought it was cerci because of the length.

Thanks Mark!

I was thinking of grinding the amber further, but it's very fragile and has allready cracked once, and the mite, let us call it that, is covered by a ving on the other side too. I will do some further research, but by observation it does not look like it has evil on its mind :)

And here is the very poorly shot through the wings of the gnat. Pentax Q7 and Olympus 10x objective. I estimate the nematocera to be 2mm long, and this passenger to be no more than 0,5mm long. http://gfsnt.no/oen/foto/2017%20Amber%20036%20Parasite.jpg And a slightly better version of the first one: ...
