Does anyone have the NiSi 200S rail?

Hi Does anyone here have the NiSi 200S manual rail? Specifically asking about the 200S and not the previous 200. The 200S has a button for for quick movement of the clamp, so you don't need to turn the knob forever to get close to the position. I'm wondering how rigid it is once you release the butt...

Re: Manual rail

Thank you. As mentioned I already have a motorized electronic rail for smaller steps. I'm not sure what is the smallest step I'd use with the manual rail, but it won't be more than x2 and randomly checking with f/4 aperture, it looks like 0.13mm. I'm leanings towards the Nisi 200 which has a nicer 1...

Re: who has the new Laowa 90mm/2,8 2:1 Macro?

Yesterday I received a 90mm Laowa lens and compared it to my 100mm version. I got the 90mm LAOWA today and took it out for a spin. Do either of you have the "creep" issue with the 90mm? That is the focus moves when pointing the lens up and/or down. I can barely find any info about it and it's still...

Manual rail

Hi I'm looking for a decent inexpensive manual rail. I have one of the basic cheap ones ($20 back when I got it, no-name available under a lot of different names) which is ok for not-really-macro photos and accepting how it's pretty rough really. I have a Desmond (no longer made) that was recommende...

Re: lower quallity on Canon R6 - because of AA filter ?

I don't know much about the technical aspects so I'm sure I got some things wrong. I really meant the effect is weaker rather than anything about the filters themselves. I quoted your post because it was the subject but it was mainly about the question in the OP and agreeing with you that having an ...

Re: lower quallity on Canon R6 - because of AA filter ?

My primary cameras have always been Canon with AA filters. They work fine. Certainly the AA filter must soften the image that is presented to the sensor. But there are many other sources of softening and all of them, including AA, can be corrected to a large degree with digital sharpening. I am con...

Re: Tweener manual rail

Thanks. I'll probably get the Sunwayfoto then. I don't think I'd mind the knob preventing it from going all the way back, it has much more than enough travel for what I need (the photos on their own website show the longer knob). For removing it, I guess either it is a two part clamp and you can sep...

Re: who has the new Laowa 90mm/2,8 2:1 Macro?

I was considering the same thing. At least in theory because the 90mm isn't available anywhere. I also had the "creep" issue and replaced it (I think I checked four of them, only one without the creep). I like how the 100mm is a little narrower... but it's not that narrow. Though I believe him it's ...

Tweener manual rail

Hi Looking for a manual rail and wondering if one of the low priced ones would be decent, such as the Sunwayfoto or NiSi. I have a good electronic rail for studio/serious/slow setups. I have one of those very cheap gear rails that I never use because it's terrible. I have a Desmond rail (apparently ...

I didn't know about these cross eye double photos... so just tried it and saw it :)
Is it like those 3D drawings in books?
Do you have a link that explains how to create them?

Re: Lens recommendation for Canon EOS 6D

I'm guessing that what you mean is that from less than about a foot from the end of the lens, whatever you want to take a photo of is too large in the frame...? The Canon 100mm macro can focus about a foot from the sensor, so much less (about 10cm?) from the end of the lens, but this doesn't matter ...

Re: Laowa macro probe lens (24mm f/14)

I considered buying it and a local photographer uses it. They use it mostly for a sort of art/historic purpose... for lack of a better way to explain it. They are an artist but base what they do mainly on serious research of history and archeology. It works very well for them, but they never really ...

Re: Does anyone have the Laowa 100mm x2 macro lens?

Thanks Robert. Can you list the exact lenses and the aperture used in each photo? Or you will just have that and these examples on your website later? I'm not sure if the differences in blur are from different apertures, FL, or just the way the lenses are? Same for the difference in brightness behin...

Re: Does anyone have the Laowa 100mm x2 macro lens?

I measured it exactly. It's just my bad memory that I'm not sure what it was :| The Laowa has a larger front diameter though. I guess it's possible to calculate the equivalent, at least for lighting. For photos of living things it is probably a little different (I'm half guessing distance makes more...
