Great work Laurie!

Like both #2 and #3. You really managed to keep detail in the dark compound eye in #2.

Well done!

John,

Outstanding images as always! Working the Canon MPE-65mm macro lens
at it's maximum magnification of 5X life size is something I would not even dream of doing! Extremely difficult, and once again you've pulled it off with outstanding results!

Best,

Rik, The spider was mounted on a macro focusing stage and at 3X life size there was movement over quite a bit of distance as I focused, so much so that I could see the edges of the legs disappearing out of the frame when I did a rapid image series playback on the camera LCD. Really concerned me... M...

Wolf Spider

This little guy came home on our granddaughter's picnic blanket the other day. 14 image stack, Canon MP-E 65 lens at 3X life size, each exposure 1/250 f8 combined in Helicon. I would have done additional images to get more of those front legs in focus, but was concerned about alignment. http://www.p...

Eyespots of Owl Butterfly

Pursuing Ocelli, or eyespots, on an Owl butterfly (Caligo sp.) for a publisher's photo request resulted in these two photos yesterday. Top photo taken with a Canon 20D, Canon 400mm. 5.6 lens, 36mm of extension tubes, 1/250, f 7.1 handheld (tripod/monopod not allowed at this location) and a Canon 430...
