Chris, yes, I can absolutely recommend the Sirui monopod head. It has no problem with the lever arm caused by the camera and optics. Ramon, my extension rings have an inner diameter of about 48mm. I think, how shorter the distance between lens and sensor is, there would be more stray light affecting...

Thank you, gentlemen! Ramon, I have lightning done only quick and dirty. I put the specimen under my microscope with build on illumination and a sheet of paper for a diffusor. I know, this setup have much potential for improvement, but that would be the next step... Concerning the radioactivity: Yes...

Olaf, thanks for your great pics. I‘m really astonished, how less guys take pics with that beautyful lens, even the lens was called superb... Since today, I have finished the assembly of my scanner nikkor 8000 and I‘m really impressed of the quality of that lens. Sharpnes, resolution and completely ...

Hello gents, I was looking for some pics taken with that 8000 lens, but I couldn‘t find that much. I don‘t mean testchart pics, but macro pics taken from users of that lens. Maybe I did the wrong search. Can any user of that lens provide me some links or results of his or others work? Thank you! Che...

Hi Ramon,

thank you for that further test. It shows clearly, what be expected: The 0.9x for direct mode and 1.15x for reversed mode would give the best results.

Can you tell, how much the space between the barrel end and the camera sensor in direct mode at 0.9x is?

Thanks again,
Cheers Markus

Hi at all, What I‘m really wondering about is, that, if the lens is used in design magnification (around 1x), there are many different experiences by the user of that 8000 lens concerning the mounting direction. Normally the developer and manufacturer of that lens should use it in the best way, to g...

Ramon, I remembered that I did a test with the Coolscan 4000 in telecentric mode, in both directions, and that I had the test images. Depending on the direction in which you use it, as I mentioned earlier that would happen for the Coolscan 8000, the diaphragm is at different distances from the back ...

Hello gents, Ramon, thank you very much for the pics! Well, since I don‘t do stiching, I don‘t need the telecentric mode. I will use it for high res imaging at 1:1. Because the optic is designed for a magnification near 1:1, I was wondering, why some people use the lens in reversed mode. My thought ...

Hi Lou, thanks for your experience. I want to take the lens for 1:1. How would you use the lens for that, normal or reversed? Do you know, how far the magnification can be varied from 1:1, before the resolution degrade visible with an mft sensor? Cheers, Markus P.S. I use the coolscan 4000 lens at 1...

Hi Ramon, thank you very much. Your pics would be much appreciated. Would there also be an atvantage in reverse mode, if I use that lens not in telecentric mode? I have a Nikon coolscan 4000 lens, and I found, that the pics would be better in normal orientation. But that is only my opinion and I can...

Hello Ramon, thanks for all those tests and informations. I have one more question concerning your setup: As I saw on your picture, you use the scanner nikkor 8000 in reversed mode (like Robert in his setup, too). Is there any atvantage in reversed mode vs normal orientation? Have you ever tried the...

But from your description, I gather that when the thread is machined away, the inner module still stays attached to and aligned with the outer housing. Is that correct? Rik, you are right. Here you can see the machined DCR (in this case a 250): https://photomacrography.net/forum/userpixcached/http%...

Kurt, no, it is not necessary to disassemble the Raynox. The outside diameter of the Raynox barrel is close to 45mm (around 44,8mm). I put the Raynox gently in a turning machine and remove the female thread to a outer diameter of 44,8mm. Than it fit tight into the aluminium tubes (I hate plastic on ...
