Re: IBIS & ES to the rescue!
A very good set! Not using the remote just makes it slightly more challenging.

Re: Anyone good with marine fossils?
I think the suspected shark tooth is a very weathered horned coral. I see another horned coral in different pictures. A handy little book to have around is the Golden Nature Guide book on Fossils. The series is ancient, but cheap and quite useful. https://www.amazon.com/Fossils-Illustrated-Authorita...

Sorry I can't help you. But I expect the cost of repair of the 105mm would be less than buying a good replacement.

Re: Little Jumping Spiders
Fantastic close-ups - especially the last ones with its prey. I love these spiders with their big, reflective eyes - but I am not sure if this is a pro or a con, because it is quite impossibe to hide the camera setup... Agreed! Here you can plainly see my old dual flash diffusers. I find the...

Little Jumping Spiders
Here are three species of Jumping Spiders. They were taken as staged shots on the 'ol dining room table. Short manual focus stacks with a Canon 100mm + a Raynox 250. I am very lucky in that I can regularly find various Salticids around the yard. This is a male Familiar Jumping Spider (that is one of...

Re: Springtails used to be insects...
Good stuff! I own a very old and well-worn copy of the earlier Insect field guide shown in the video, and lots of things in there are considered wrong now. Insects are descended from Crustaceans (!). Butterflies are really moths. Tiger Beetles don't have their own family, but instead are within the ...

Very striking pictures!
I also use a fork mount on my monopod when out in the field. All choices for peripheral gear help in some ways and hinder in others, but I do prefer the fork mount over other choices.

Re: single exposure focus stacking?
The OM system and related systems can do great hand-held focus stacks, relying on fast burst speed and aggressive image stabilization. A well diffused flash is essential for giving the lighting effects that are desired. But doing this on an insect up on swaying vegetation would still be fairly impos...

Very well done! There seems to be an appendage at the rear which flip up to throw the droplet.
