Re: Paracetamol XPL

I like it! is this with or without coverslip? I notice theres some dark spots on the right side, is that dust on your camera/optics or dust on the crystals? When making crystal melts or solutions I really try to filter them thru coffee filter and make sure no dust lands on the slide when crystallizi...

Polarized Organic Potassium Salt

Here are some pics of a potassium salt evaporated from a water solution. I really like this salt because you seem to get a variety of shapes and patterns. Its fun as it tends to form these clusters of trapezoid/hexagonal shapes too. 2x, 10x, and 20x objectives and 533nm tint plate used. Last two ima...

I have a MVI Darklight as well. Need to drag it out of storage and use it a bit. Thanks for reminding me!

Re: Paracetamol

How did you prepare this? Can you just crush up a tylenol pill and dissolve in water or do you have to do a melt slide?

Thanks!

Diatoms SEM

Since we all love diatoms 'round these parts. Here is some diatomaceous earth (Dicalite 341) imaged at 1000-3000x mag. I am trying to dial in the resolution of the SEM system and these seem to be a good test target. Carbon coated. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/5230_colorizedimage16_1...

Praying Mantis SEM

Various shots of praying mantis imaged with scanning electron microscope at 50-200x magnification. Not quite sure whats causing the streaks and over saturation but this was my first attempt at gold sputter coating and I may not have the parameters dialed in yet. I'm really impressed with the "snares...

I do not miss the humidity in Houston, lived there for almost 4 years. The medical center area is very impressive. My mothers side is from lethbridge - barnwell area, have an aunt in calgary. Have not been to alberta in 15 years. I lucked out with this unit, its a late 80s/early 90s model JEOL but i...
