Not into microscopy, but there was a programme many years ago on British TV where they used cellulose wallpaper paste for the same purpose to slow them down and it's easily obtainable at DIY stores. "unless we slow it down. We will use methyl cellulose (wallpaper paste) to do this." http://www.moder...

Nikon User. Nikon say an extension tube should be used between their bellows and modern cameras if only so modern digital cameras with the hand-grip clear the rear standard. However they also claim that the "A" version of the small extension tube and reversing ring should be used with cameras having...

I suppose from where in Asia they come and what quality. I have seen some tools that though steel are about as strong as aluminium, for instance spanners where the nuts are tougher than the spanner so the jaws simply open and slip even with reasonable pressure. No doubt not properly hardened and jus...

Link is opening up fairly quickly for me Harold. Are you using the latest IE 8? IE 9 is also available in Beta now, but I prefer to wait until it is in its final form:- http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx Metric 52mm Forstner bit available as 2-1/16" Imperial?:- http://ww...

If its through timber, being an ex carpenter I would have used either an expansion bit or a Forstner bit. http://sawdustmaking.com/Drill%20Bits/drill_bits.htm Of the two I would think the Forstner bit would be preferable for holes larger than the usual run of wood bits as they can be used in a drill...

Nikon PB-6 bellows new in the UK goes for around £484 (US$776.55) so I suppose £350 (US$561.56) on UK EBAY would not be too far out of line for a mint item since most buyers from new hardly ever use them. However bear in mind unlike the USA photo equipment in the UK has 17.5% Value Added Tax (soon t...

Some PB-6's on EBAY. I got mine off there a couple of years ago, but they seem to have got more expensive since then. You can also record your search on EBAY and they will e-mail you for free whenever that item is posted for sale. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=nikon...

You can't white balance mixed lighting. The only way is to use a filter over one light to bring it to the same colour temperature as the other and then set white balance. You can get colour balancing gels for this. http://www.digital-photography-school.com/how-to-color-balance-your-flash-with-gels h...

I always understood the stops advantage for hand holding using image stabilisation quoted by camera manufacturers were only correct at infinity focus and diminished as the lens focused closer giving virtually no advantage at 1:1? We obviously would need to pay extra for exceptional items like London Bridge or statues weighing many tons, but pretty well anything else gets standard delivery to our doors at no extra cost. I suppose this is embodied in the price, but how much you save in North America by foregoing door to door d...

In the UK such large trucks are usually just depot to depot transport with the goods then transferred to local delivery vehicles to bring them to your door. If it is a heavy object they would expect the recipient to be able to move it, but even then it would mostly be delivered by vehicles with a li...

What sort of price point are you aiming to sell at? The problem with all specialist works is their limited market which pushes up their production costs and the higher price then limits their market in turn. We get this with specialist cactus books. A recently produced two volume cactus work sells f...
