I just wanted to check back to this and see what has happened since May. It has been a couple of months and I can see that I am getting there. I still need some gear and I think I will change my D3200 to a D7200 as it is not "enough" anymore in terms of quality. Also I bought a tripod which really h...

So I just received my Yongnuo YN-565EX speedlite and my flash diffuser ($1 plus delivery haha). Will have to go out and test it some day, but it looks really promising! :)

I would like to thank the patience and the help from everyone, and sorry for being such noob :) We were on a night herp trip last night and yea, found the problem. Some people might be able to shoot perfect macro pictures hand held, I am clearly not one of them. The camera (specially close-up) shake...

I have to agree, Flickr does an amazing jobe at sharpening the images :)

Here it is in full size from Flickr and I have to say it looks quite decent. Not super, but decent. The details are there.

So what I did now was to enter them into flickr resized and then upload here. Edit: Let´s face it, it´s not getting any better.. Either my techniques are crap or too much movement, or both. I am guessing my next buy will be a tripod. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8789/17102840867_690e321804_b.jpg X...

Well this is odd.. I have resized one of my pictures taken today, it is now 1024 pixels and 330 kb in total. If I try to upload it here I get "Filesize exceeds limit." When i try to upload the big file it uploads without a problem..

I just upload it as it is, default size and leave the pixel field empty. I don't set anything when uploading the pictures. Weird..

Will check the other pictures in a bit from my computer.

Well here we go! One decent looking picture all day. No adjustment was made, it comes directly off the camera. Bit sad that I missed the center when taking the pictures as the flower was blowing constantly.

I have some fresh pics from today, although the weather is still bad and it was a big struggle trying to shoot hand held. Will upload them directly here together with info later tonight, as I am at work. Edit: just skipped through some of them and it seems to be a bit more promising, however the win...

I've downloaded the original and looked at pixels, compared with airy disks and my own copy of the lens at f/22, and unsharpened, it looks about right for f/22 to me. :? f/8 is a lot sharper. I am on my way to a place and will have about 3 hours to test. Will get back later once everything is proce...

Hmm, I don't see anything in focus; I doubt that f/22 is the problem. This image looks very similar to the earlier beetle photo, decent clear image but nothing in focus. Perhaps a problem with the camera's sensor ? No idea actually, but I doubt it. The image clearly sucks, but I will try to do some...

I have now bumped into a problem that I will hope the flash will solve next month. I was out shooting in very windy conditions with close to none sunshine, and the results are very meh.. I am simply missing the crisp sharpness that I SHOULD be getting with this lens and the distance. Take this shot ...

Don't forget that as you're further away from the subject , the flash will behave more like a point source, which won't suit everything.
I was quite close, so the flash wash pretty much utilized. But it is nice to be far enough so that the actual lens wont shade my subject as with the 40mm :)

I just made some test photos and the lens is absolutely amazing! Super sharp and super bright, I could shoot at F/22 and only used the built-in flash and the quality was absolutely stunning! And the fact that I didn´t have to creap up to the subject as with the 40mm is a huge advantage as well. I wi...
