Move Camera Body Only with Stackshot
I made it and did a couple of test shots. It took a couple of tries to get it right. At first I made a mount from the bellows to the StackShot and it was a pain to but it on and the weight of the camera made it sag. So, I did it over and now it goes on and off easily and it is not difficult to align...

Determining when to add flocking
How do you know when you need to add flocking? I get the idea that light bounces around but what is the effect of it? Is it a grey overcast like when you need a lens hood on a reversed lens? Does it make highlights get easily blown out? An example of a need for it would be great. I'm using a bellows...

Bellows Lenght
I am seeing the same thing. If I focus at infinity with the Nikon 10x Plan .25 I am right at 10x (3 lines exactly on my ruler). If I expand the bellows a little more it seems to start to go down a little in quality. I'm not sure how much and it could be me my bellows does not go much beyond it anywa...

Typo
Yes, you are correct I think shortening the distance may correct the corners. It only loses a little when using a Raynox 150. I will see what I get with the 250.

I think I have the distance and magnificaiton bit down now
So, ideally I focus at infinity, add the objective and I get the best it can be. However, I can shorten or lengthen by bellows a little to change magnification. Notice I mentioned a little as it can also degrade the image. So it is what you an live with quality wise. That being said, one more thing,...

Moving the body
I'm confused now. If I move everything I change the focus point not the magnification. This is how I do it now with my MPE-65. If I use a bellows and tube lens I have read that you remove the objective and focus on infinity. You then place the objective back on and move in or out to focus. If you us...

Converting Um's
Okay, it makes sense you move the decimal three places when using UM's. I'm not sure they do that on the Extreme Macro site. Or maybe its just me getting old and being American never really using the metric system. I think now it is just getting adapters so I can move the objective and leave the tub...

Something is wrong on my end.
Okay, something is wrong on my end. I used the calculator on the extreme macro site to get this table. Mag f/stop Step Size 10x f/20 .096 9x f/18 .097 8x f/16 .098 7x f/14 .099 6x f/12 .102 On the Zerene site it says for objectives use the Numerical aperture and for a .25 it is .0088. If I round up ...

Simple answer to tube to sensor
I have read quite a few pages and now I am confused. I have a Nikon Plan 10x and a Raynox 150 and 250. I have read different magnification amounts people get from them depending upon how they are setup. Should I fix the adapter (tube) at a given distance from the sensor and then move the objective t...

Thanks for the reference
Rik Thanks for the reference. I have read the page quite a few times and I have purchased the 55-200 lens option for the Nikon Plan 10x. I am also in the process of trying to figure out how to properly use the Raynox diopters as a tube lens. I have them and Robert says they are one of the best ways.

Thank you
Thank you. I have both the 250 and 150. What I am now confused about is the length of the bellows. They say set it a certain distance and you are saying there is some play in it. I'm all for the play in it. My thought was to make a ruler for the bellows and mark the magnification so I could calculat...

Modify bellows to move body with a Stackshot
I have read in a couple of places that ideally you want to move the camera body to focus while leaving the lens stationary. I haven't tried it but I was thinking of making an automated rig to do it. First, does it actually work better? and second has anyone modified a Stackshot to do so? On ebay I f...

Chrome Tip
I am new at this and I was having trouble with stray light making my images gray. I read numerous posts and I think it was ChrisR who mentioned how he wanted to paint it black on his. Then he showed some electrical tape on his making a shade. I though I should take everything I could into considerat...

Ping Pong Ball Diffuser Plan
[/img] http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/4983_Ping_Pong_Diffuser_1.jpg I have read in numerous places how a Ping Pong Ball makes a good diffuser. I needed a better one for my Nikon 10x Plan with the chrome front. So, I created a diffuser that would slide on and off and block out the chro...

Infinity objective tube lens - use zoom or Raynox
This is a simple question for those who know. From what I have read if I use a Nikon 10x Plan Objective on a Zoom Lens at 100mm I get 5x magnification and at 200mm I get 10X. What I need to do is set the rate of zoom and focus on a subject at infinity. I can't just turn the lens barrel as it will go...
