Re: Infinity objective and tube lens dissolute chatter

FWIW, I have been using Nikon CFI Plan 4x (MRL00042) and 10x (MRL00102) on Nikon D90, D300s (APS-C) and using a Nikon 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 G lens as a tube lens for many years. With the 4x, I start to vignette when the lens is set to 175mm or less (about 3.7x) and can take it up to about 6.1x at 300mm W...

Scarodactyl, no, it is not the PVC that does the reflection. It is the interior of the projector guide, not the outside part that is removable with 3 small set screws, but the interior that would normally hold the projection lens. See the Picture called "Flair Source" that looks into the top of the ...

Good info, thanks guys.... Interesting that Duke's photos did not come through on my Firefox, had to bring up Google Chrome to see them. Everything else shows fine on Firefox, wonder what is different. My setup is the early LaboPhot I microscope base. I know there is a LaboPhot II, and the OptiPhot ...

Trinocular Head Adapter

I didn't think much of the idea of just setting the camera on top of the chimney, and in looking around I did not see any adapters to Nikon F that were reasonable priced. So I decided to get creative. I found an adapter for 42mm to Nikon F on the web for less then $10. Now I needed to get something ...

On my type F, there are no optics in the vertical chimney, just when you swing the eyepieces left, it is just a vertical hole, no glass. With the eyepiece in forward position the eyepiece prism is in position. This one did not come with a 2.5 projector or any other glass in the chimney. And looking ...

Thanks for all the info. I did find and bought a Trinocular head, Type F. Nice clean one, one itty-bitty scratch on the side. Has the top cover also. Now all I need to find is an adapter from the camera tube to Nikon F mount. Had a D90 not doing anything, old but works, put a 1.4x Teleconverter on i...

You are welcome. My intent with this lens was to use outside in the field, mostly 1x-2x range, on a D500. The D300s setup is on the Macro rig, bench top only. The flare is the first thing I noticed, and I did try a black shade I made from construction paper, about 6" long, same diameter as the outsi...

advice for Nikon Labophot trinocular head

I have a Labophot (I) microscope w/ binocular head, and want to add a trinocular head to go to Nikon APS-C camera. I am not familiar with microscope stuff. What all do I need? This is a Biological, has CFW 15x eyepieces, 4 objectives, PHI 10x DL 160, 40x, 40x DL, Plan 100DL, and a Phase Contrast 1.2...

For anyone that wants to pixel peep, here is a link to OneDrive that has a sampling of 13 pictures.

https://1drv.ms/f/s!AvUX6lOYSxvraU-FAhs_h5dlX-E

Appears that OneDrive lets you zoom in to about 140%

Let me know if this works OK, or if you have issues using this method.

Thanks,

G

Mitakon Super Macro 1x-5x (generation II)

Last week I received from B&H a Zhongyi Mitakon Super Macro 1x-5x (generation II) and put it through my normal lens set of tests. This is the results. Short answer: It is good considering the price, with one notable exception: It appears to have internal overall flair (lower contrast) then I expecte...

FWIW, I was looking at some images in my Lightroom, knowing I took both 1X and 2X pix with a iPhone XS Max. They all show up as 3024 x 4032, but one has a Focal Length of 6mm and the other as 4.25mm. That means it is really Optical, not digital 2X. Should be the same for you iPhone 8 Plus. George

Tube Flocking

Tube Flocking I was calibrating a new 4x objective from MJKZZ to compare to my Nikon 4x. I just happened to focus on one of my backgrounds, and since there have been several articles about flocking tube lens and extensions, I thought I would post a couple of pictures for comparison. http://www.photo...

Ted, On your 'cloudy' issue: Would not think it is the camera adapter unless you have a light leak. Light entering the camera viewfinder can do it. Maybe light entering the microscope eyepieces could do it ( I assume it is a prism in there) and if you are using the LED ring, light reflecting off som...

Me Too

Like tevans, I am thinking about getting a starter microscope. I have figured out most of the stuff about this AMScope microscope ( I am not a microscope guy, never having worked with one), but still have some questions. With a zoomable objective of 0.35-4.5x and the 10x eyepiece that gives the 3.5-...
