Re: Differences between Nikon BE Plan 4x and E Plan 4x?

Hi Fergus, This might be interesting, I tested both the BE and E Plan and others: https://www.closeuphotography.com/4x-lens-test/part-one-4x-for-less-than-100-dollars <image snipped> Robert Hi Robert, Yes I've been reading your image test threads recently. The little BE 4x did very well, impressive...

Hi, I emailed BW about these two objectives in early February. I was quoted US$490 per lens, plus US$80 for TNT couriers. I purchased the 2x objective but haven't used it yet (still building my rig, and also had to order an adapter for the threads). To perhaps put other potential purchasers at ease,...

I wonder about internal reflections, especially with so many sections in the tube (some telescoping no doubt).

Helium Microscope

Hello All, In our news recently there was a 'new' microscope based on helium. I don't even pretend to understand the science behind this, but I thought some might find the development interesting. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-05-16/world-first-scanning-helium-microscope-unveiled-uni-of-newcastle/...

...(And for anyone unaware, pressing the keys " shift " plus " > " speeds up a YouTube video. Two such presses seem about right for this one. " Shift " plus " < " slows video down . This particular shortcut makes YouTube greatly more palatable.) --Chris Chris, that's a great hint, I wish I knew it ...

One question - which objective exactly are you using? In regards to the 200mm lens - I picked up a mint, literally perfect brand-new condition, 200mm f4 Q Nikkor for under US $70 on ebay. Something like that might be ideal for your 200mm tube lens. As I understand it, infinite objectives use the cen...

Hi Fergus, yeah I downloaded the pc and the mobile app on my laptop using an android emulator but I guess it just doesn't send the signal out in the emulator version, so no luck there unfortunately. I got it to work on my phone but it doesn't serve as much of a screen really. The kindle works now t...

For the remote control to work you need the Sony app "smart remote control" installed in the camera and "playmemories mobile" in the tablet or device. Run the app on the camera first and then the device will spot the camera. From memory there's a default setting for the transferred images to be smal...

...I haven't found much information so far about how to size heat sinks for LEDs. I assume, not all of those 36W get converted into heat. But I'm not sure how much power has to be actually dissipated by the heat sink. Cree (just as an example) offers detailed thermal management documentation for th...

I'm glad I bought mine when I did, knowing this.

You might try Coherent Scientific located in South Australia. They were selling the scope complete with the objectives, maybe they can supply the objectives on their own?

Cheers...

What is it? (without meaning to appear stupid)

Fergus :)
