Re: Diatoms in Circular Oblique Light Update 06/05

Sadly for all who knew Klaus Kemp, either through personal contact or as an admirer of his work.
Received the news that he passed away on the 28th May 2022 in Hospital.
In his passing, the world of micro-manipulation has lost a great master of the art.

Re: knot of striped hair

Rik,
Perhaps it's my ageing eyes, I very much prefer the Flipped view. As you say better aesthetics, but for me its seems more depth of field together with a better "true reflection" of 3D appearance.

Re: Need help with monstrus Zeiss microscope

All this talk of Zeiss delamination of objectives? You do not need to use Zeiss objectives? Olympus objectives work very well, as do a few other makes and models. My advice would be to make sure that you get another make and set of lens all matching. Yes, we can see that you have bought a beast but!...

Whilst I cannot give you any answers to your problems, I will say, well done on acquiring such a beast of a scope.
Happy discoveries on the new toy for years to come, just make sure that the bench is solid.
looking forward to some good photos.
all the best for the new year.

Never mind the lighting on the alligator clip, I'm most impressed with your joinery skills, those mitre joints are first class.

What a beast. you must never leave an empty space in a home lab, guarantee something will come along to fill it.
