Re: US Buyers Beware of Tariffs on EU Products

For lenses (and other photographic equipment), the place of manufacture is restricted to Germany. See https://captureintegration.com/tariffs-that-will-affect-you-the-photographer/ Best wishes on the safe and trouble-free arrival of your Superachromat. Best regards, David Hi David, It is Germany, bu...

Re: US Buyers Beware of Tariffs on EU Products

Wow this is... ridiculous. (Just remember it's better to not swear! #-o ) Here I am, still annoyed by the 10% we have to pay in Australia. This tariff war was originally waged against China under several debatable arguments that I'm not drunk enough to entertain, now it's extending to Europe and (t...

Re: US Buyers Beware of Tariffs on EU Products

Oh no!!!! Many months ago I bought a $2000 Superachromat lens from a vender in Holland. He sent it a few days ago. Most expensive thing I've bought in a long time. Why did the Korean shipment get charged? Are there more countries besides the ones you listed which have a 25% tariff? Or is itthe plac...

US Buyers Beware of Tariffs on EU Products

Quick heads up to anyone living in the US and thinking about ordering something from overseas. Earlier this month a South Korean seller sent me an inspec.x L lens for this post: https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=41911 A couple of weeks later I got a bill in the mail for Fed...

Robert, thanks for the tests and congratulations on a year of life after death. I'm curious why you tested the old Sigma 70mm rather than the new one that did so well in your recent tests? Maybe the new version would have done better. Also, in my tests of the new Sigma, it is sharpest at f/4.0. So ...

I agree that the SM2 solution is very handy ... as long as both lenses fit inside the tube. For the Macro Irises that is likely the case. The adjustment and lens change is not as easy I would like, though. Not true, both lenses do not have to fit inside of the lens tube. I've been using the same Th...

Also it might not be a bad idea for US guys to share express shipping costs to reduce the cost per adapter, normal mail from the RUS takes forever!

I will have some adapters coming soon express if anyone is interested.

Best,

Robert

Also V38 to V38 would be a good one also, for lens stacking coupling. For Makro Iris lenses 37mm to 37mm reversing ring should work as well and that is coming soon. The hood sets the element back a few mm on some lenses so really the best way would be V38 to V38 or even better mounting in the Sm2 t...

The problems don't end at the lens doublet. Even if you had a replacement lens, it's usually not possible to restore the calibration of the lens elements within the assembly. Here is a description of objective assembly: "During assembly of the objective, lenses are first strategically spaced, lap-s...

Thanks David! 5 lenses at 3 magnification levels really was a l-o-n-g process. It took a lot more time and energy then I expected. The final results were rewarding since they all really did a spectacular job, especially with CAs and LoCAs! Once I spent hours and hours slogging away through a pile of...
