Thanks Tom for your input. Mostly I like to watch the pond water life and other standing water. The more I hear about this naegleri fowleri the more worried I become about playing with this standing water. I've read where 3 boys have died already this season due to that amoeba. I don't really unders...

Your video makes me never want to post another video again...... very impressive. For some reason I can't get that performance by holding my droid up to the eye piece..

Thanks for your bid, any other bid's out there? Another thing I was thinking is that maybe culturing means to have a sample of maybe dirt or lent and putting it in a culture medium in order to cultivate whatever organisms that may be in the sample..... I'm confused really about this. Do we have in r...

what is culturing

I have a question about the word culture as far as mircro-biology. When you create a culture, does this mean you have a sample and you are trying to grow what is in the sample that you have or does it mean you create a culture in hopes to obtain something you don't already have? I've been reading so...

well... I just read where 2 more kids died due to Naegleria fowleri. Something I found cruel and odd, while I was reading about these 2 children I read where someone or a group of researchers put this stuff up the nose of 7 sheep and all 7 died. I mean really did they have to kill all 7 of the sheep...

Thanks! Next time I'll try to get a closer view of this guy. I find them a lot in my area. I'm thinking if I keep looking I'm going to run across the naegleria fowleri amoeba. Water temperature is already above 80 degrees in my area and I like checking out water samples. I've read where they live in...

amoeba inditification

Sorry my microscope is not the best... You can see how this thing moves. I got this out of a pail of water sitting outside. This is a sample right off the very top of the water level.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here... but I have another question. Maybe I need to be set straight on what a culture is of an amoeba. When I read about cultures, I am lead to believe that if I take some water in a dish and leave it outside for a couple of days and these amoeba just appear?? Can ...
