Re: New olympus 90mm 2x macro

Question about Olympus (OM-system) 90mm 2x f/3.5 Macro PRO: 1) Will automated focus bracketing work for this lens, if used not on olympus body, but on Panasonic g9 body? 2) Will the lens work together with olympus MC-20 teleconverter on panasonic G9 body? 3) Will automated focus bracketing work when...

Re: Panasonic 45-175 mm as tube lens / focus bracketing

Quick question on your setting up "1100 minimal AF steps" is this same as "# of shots in focus bracketing ?" and at what focus differential ? i.e. <3 vs. > 9, maximum 10. My OM DEM1-III allows maximum of 999 shots in focus bracketing and focus differential 1-10. And not clear on ~230mkm mean, these...

Re: Zerene stereo rocking: is exporting source images to another software possible?

Thank you! I made a script for shifting for stereos with python and OpenCV, works great. If you feel like sharing it, I loves me some python and opencv and would love to play around some day without attempting a rewrite! No worries, though. I also forgot (because I only looked a few times to refere...

Could you please tell your camera model, And what is the focus travel distance from AF close-up to AF infinity in microns, when 40-150 2.8 is set to ~125mm and is used ...

Re: Panasonic 45-175 mm as tube lens / focus bracketing

I own this lens (45-175). Pros: AF stackings works perfect and is ultra-fast. Cons: My specimen of 45-175 as TL is optically noticeably worse than Raynox DCR-250 or Sigma 70-200 f2.8 EX. There is more CA, there is less resolution. Still the quality is good. For non-perfectionists. It may depend on t...

100% crops of a HR vs N comparison with Pana G9, Mitty 10 + 90mm tube lens @4.5X on sensor:
Could you share your experience on how 90mm Oly perform as a tube lens?
Does Mitutoyo 10x on it cover MFT corner to corner, no vigneting, on resulting 4.5x mag? Is image flawless?

Re: Preparing for season = New toy -> mitutoyo 10x vs 10x HR

Expected test results are: incredible difference in resolution. It should be very far from "imperceptible". 10x HR 0.42 is expected to outresolve Mitutoyo 20x 0.42, giving more than 1.5 times more linear resolution than ordinary 10x 0.28. That means, capable to resolve at least 1.5 times more LPM. P...

Re: Lacking feature in Zerene and Helicon (but present in Affinity)

Thank you! I am not saying that such algorythm would remove the need for hand-retouching completely, but definitely the result generted by such method would be the best base for further retouching, saving a lot of time. Even considering that generating (DMAP+PMAX) combo would take twice more CPU tim...

Lacking feature in Zerene and Helicon (but present in Affinity)

We all used to that there are 2 software packages for focus stacking: Zerene & Helicon. I own copies of both and I use both, and both of them have great features. However, several years ago a new player came in, Affinity Photo. And I have to say, that there is one thing why some macro-photographers ...

Re: Problem. "Fake rotation" of the object, with my Mitutoyo10x

Hi Rik! Your advice to turn off computational alignment completely for stereo stitching hit the bull's eye! Turning alignment off completely is really a must. I return to my photo-hobby from time to time when I have gaps in my work and family life. I returned to this topic recently, and I would like...

Re: Interesting Canon 100mm - 1.4x Possibilty

Maybe a dumb question, but if used as a tube lens would that correction ring still work? I know Infinity sells a tube lens that corrects for spherical aberrations, though like many of their products it is hard to tell how good it actually is. I am also very interested. SA can be corrected by changi...

Hello PM/AM, I've asked this question on DPReview (https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4716857#forum-post-67099620) to a mixture of responses, and thought it best to get the opinion of dedicated and experienced macro photographers instead, since a good amount of those responses have been some ve...

I'd actually be very interested to see some high-res pixel shifts of complex fine structures at 2x. FotoChris, What is the reason why you are not going to use it a...

Zerene stereo rocking: is exporting source images to another software possible?

In the professional edition of Zerene Stacker there is an option to save (export) aligned source images. Is there a possibility to do something similar with the images aligned with shift, images that are prepared for frames of stereo rocking sequence? the goal is to be able to export them to be proc...
