And is there an easy way to check if you setup is telecentric or not?

Thanks a lot! This paper really gives more information. However after fast-reading I still failed to find an answer what are the limits of such correction, maximum thickness that can be corrected, with dependancy to NA and RI.

The topic of correcting spherical abberrations is very interesting for me. I found information about a solution that is pretending to correct SA in tube lens (TL) for infinite objectives. https://www.infinity-usa.com/infocus/ And I found an article on the same topic, though the article is written by...

Lou Jost guessed absolutely right about the reason behind my question.
Possibility to use such objective as a lower-mag photo lens (say, 1x-5x).

Is this true for their stereo-microscopes too, I wonder? The design of a stereo is very different with several more lenses in the light path. Sorry, perhaps I was mistaken and stereomicroscope objective by Zeiss and leica are fully corrected. Now I remember that maybe that was related only to their...

My guess about the design is that probably the whole lens is optimized for the highest mag over the smallest field, and stopping way down is how the designers then get acceptable results over a much larger field, at lower magnifications. If they tried imaging the low mag field at full NA, I expect ...

I bought a beautiful Leica 2x apo stereomicroscope lens with 1 micron resolving power. Would be exciting but I can't figure out how to make it work. If I am not mistaken Leica and Zeiss stereomicroscope objectives are not fully corrected, and they assume additional correction in the tube. Correct m...

Use stereomicroscope lens without a microscope?

Is it possible to use a stereomicroscope lens from Nikon microscopes, e.g. 1.0x Plan APO HR from SMZ-1500, to make photos, without a microscope, but attaching somehow the objective directly to the camera? What quality can be expected, and what range of magnifications before hitting the diffraction l...

Hi all,
I will join with the question to Chris:
what makes this lens so desirable to you?

Does it perform better and in what parameter, then 5x, 10x & 20x Mitutoyos?

Thank you guys, you got the point. But I am not talking about PMG.net, here in the community we can always ask and clarify. I am talking about probably the most prestigeous contest for photomicrographers in the world. At NSW this is just unacceptable. Only the linear size of the picture should apply...

Hi everyone. I noticed one thing in "Nikon Small world", that seems very wrong to me. I myself never participated in the contest, but I can't stay silent. I think all of you know about the issue: micro-photographers usually use "magnification on sensor" in their posts. However, professionals working...

If you have a look at these images http://www.sciencealert.com/gallery-gems-under-the-microscope-reveal-the-beauty-of-imperfections they were made just with a Wild photomacroscope, I know Danny's photos well. They are great, but these are made at lower magnifications, up to 4x. These mags are acces...

Mitutoyous 10x and 20x certainly can be stopped down and I have an iris that does it. But stopping will result in loss of resolution, so the resolution may become equal to that of 4x objective. Why use the 10x if there will be no additional detail at 10x? Before trying to find "G plan" I will of cou...

Ichthyophthirius, thank you for the valuable info, formula and links. It is much more clear now. It seems that immersion objectives are not for my case, too low WD, only specially polished to minimal thickness samples. I've read that correction collar usually corrects 0.3 to 1.5 mm coverglass, and t...

My samples are not prepared samles, that's the problem. Often I cannot polish the minerals, there is a need to preserve the natural faces. Usually they are natural crystals with natural faces and with inclusions inside. Sometimes the minerals can be polished, but usually just to make an even surface...
