Disappointed in Kenko DG extension tubes for canon

Very flimsy plastic and the mount is very loose. Mounting my 200 mm lens on the 3 tubes is a joke. It feels like it's going to come loose from the lens or body. Barely works with my 100mm 2.8L macro.

I increment by the DOF/2 typically. Sounds good. Have you tracked down yet what was producing the "mixed results"? --Rik it seems that the stacker software gets confused on high contrast areas that lay over areas of blur. For example, a flower petal that is an inch in front of a leaf. The edge of t...

Yes, it was a typo but just to clarify, I increment by the DOF/2 typically. I wanted to post my workflow for critique/commentary. I've been getting mixed results so obviously this workflow isn't perfect. Sorry I missed this last post earlier. It's probably just a typo, but as written there's a probl...

Zerene retouching problem?

I'm sure this is user error on my part but I'm having this issue periodically where I select a source image in retouching and when I paint to the destination, the result is not a perfect cloning. Is exposure matching going on here and if so, can I turn that off for retouching? Here's an example. Not...

Fantastic Stuff John. Thanks for the tips. I wanted to post my workflow for critique/commentary. I've been getting mixed results so obviously this workflow isn't perfect. Calculate DOF using http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html Measure Depth of subject in which I want DOF within Divide Depth of subje...

There are a lot of articles on DOF, but since you've already done a calculation, I'd like to start there and understand what went wrong. What calculator did you use, and what numbers did you stick into it? --Rik Been using http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html I plugged in 12", F8, 100mm, DOF = 1.5mm

Thanks so much for the detailed explanation Rick. I think it'd be an interesting programming problem to look at and perhaps have a checkbox for correcting. I will try unchecking the brightness option and see if that achieves what I am asking for. I have another question unrelated to this issue. I ha...

The good exposure is based off the 2nd image I posted which had the 1 underexposed image left out. Here it is again

OK, I found the image that was causing the noise. It appears this image has a slightly lower histogram value than all the other ones. It looks like my fill flash did not trigger on this one. However, with "show as adjusted" checkbox filled in, the image has extreme noise when I click on the particul...

Sorry for having 2 threads on this. One originally did not show up so I thought I might have refreshed the page before it got posted. Anyway, it's definitely not an overexposed image. They were lit by studio flash and the photogenic lights I use are very consistent and the histograms are all very cl...

Here's the same image but this time I only pasted every 4th image into stacker so there are 11 images in the stack instead of 45.

can someone tell me what's going on?

newbie zerene stacker noise problem

I'm getting a lot of image noise periodically using zerene stacker and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. This was a 45 shot stack 1mm apart for each shot. both pmap and dmap exhibit the noise, I don't see any noise in the originals. http://www.jackzucker.com/images/2012-03-05-20.59.19%20ZS%20DMap.j...
