In Optiphot 2 lamphouse the distance between the bulb and collimator lens is only about 10mm. 40mm Beamsplitter will have to work, especially if I'll go with 30W LED. Most of the parts are being shipped and I'm very excited about this little project.

Pau, I’ve just started getting back in after I sold my DIC setup before we moved 2 years ago. I acquired Optiphot 2 and right now I mostly use darkfield with dry darkfield condenser. I’ll be looking for DIC setup if I can get a good price, that’s why I want to go with more power now so later it woul...

Thank you so much Pau for sharing! I already ordered 40mm 50/50 beamsplitter from Surplus Shed (excellent value!) and got in touch with ebay seller Stanton asking if he could custom make 30W dimmable LED illuminator for my scope. I feel his standard 10W is a bit too low. Stan already replied that he...

Pau,

great idea to use beamsplitter. I think I'm going to work on it too. Have you finished your permanent setup yet?

Thank you for your responses! That is very helpful. I happened to have BR2A adapter already which I bought to mount 50mm Canon lens. That lens already has 52mm thread and I would just mount directly onto BR2A adapter. So 52mm to 40.5 is simple enough. Thanks again!

Hi there,

I'm trying to figure out what adapter to get to mount EL-Nikkor 50mm f/2.8 N to Nikon PB-6 bellows reversed. I want to make the right purchase and I'm not certain. Please advise.

Thank you!

I rarely saturate more than cameras "Landscape" setting gives. And if I do 10+ in Photoshop at most. Other than that I make sure to just touch the black and white points in levels. Tiny "S" curve, a bit of sharpening and I'm done. But yes, absolutely, I love color. Not sure if you taken a look at my...

Thanks! I have compound microscope and I've done some focus stacks of insects (as can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dariuskersulis/sets/72157631628472134/), but in this magnification range fist dabble. Magnification on microscope, even with 4x objective is way too much for this kind of ...

Thank you Charles Krebs for 'coaching'. First macro shots.

While waiting for the proper adapter I simply used sticky tape to hold the lens. Seemed to work just fine. First shots with reversed Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II on Nikon PB-6 bellows (fully subtracted). Camera Canon T3i. Thanks again for the help. It is a lot of fun! http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8310/80...
