You might want to look at this link for sensor cleaning - it looks scary but is fine with care.

I have done this to my two D800 bodies a number of times

You only need the 'basic' kit - the rest is just 'stuff'.

Pec pads and eclipse fluid is on Amazon.

May well do Andrew as CMN does not have a way to read the settings out which might come in handy. That c# package just showed up on nikonrumours.com also It is quite fun having a home cooked stepper hardware / software, CMN, lightroom and Zerene all running on a job with me just watching. Am quite l...

Hi Andrew, I went a slightly different way and used Control My Nikon from my C++/MFC stepper driver. It allows me to control a couple of different Nikon body's with the same back end. CMN has an available comms mechanism based on posting a windows message to its parent screen, it allows setting of m...

Well the exif says f2.8 - but I am suspicious that the pc control software was taking liberty's with reality.

So I took some more shots which were better :-

It is better, but not without falloff.

OK thanks Rik, Could well be an error on my part, it was infinity focused for sure, this was my first try at 5X with a 105 as a tube lens - my 'usual' tube lens is a very vintage 200mm Nikon that is manual only so I ignore the camera & pc aperture controls (set on lens once - forget forever). Will t...

Hi Craig,

Wide open F2.8 as I recall - though the images are on my pc at work so I can't look at the exif data from here.

Could be I messed up - it might make sense if the lens was stopped down.

I recall setting the camera, but, it could be that my pc software had other ideas.

Nikon CFI BE Plan Achromat Objective 10X at 5X

Hi, Was trying to use the Nikon CFI BE Plan Achromat Objective 10X (MRN70100) with a Nikon crop Camera (D300) and Nikon 105VR to achieve about 5X. Well it works but I do seem to be getting quite a vignette at the corners. Is this 'expected' or not ? Paul C http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userp...

FWIW - my day job is developing software and hardware solutions on windows platforms. For the last few years I have used 32bit Windows 7, when at the end of 2012 I changed my development system I went to 64 bit Windows 7 as many of my stacks & Photoshop adventures were choking my older 32 bit OS ( n...

The lit card would be interesting as it may well be a synch issue with the scan update of the screen and the shutter on the camera.

Thanks for the shot of the setup - picture worth a pile of words and all that.

What tube lenses are folks using in Nikon based set-up's ?

regards, and thanks for a great resource.
